No he's right, most people don't have the capabilities to drive their cars to the limits. As far as handling goes when you mod none of that stuff really matters; in addition to that either you can drive your car or you can't. I've done many BMWCCA events where those without all of the fancy electronics eat away those with.

That being said all of it is a marketing gimmick for those who can't drive..."OH MY EVO HAS S-AYC AND YOURS DOESN'T!" who cares.
