Slow Evo

I read about how everyone says their Evos pull harder and harder as the revs climb. Mine seems like 5,000 rpms is the limit on the put-you-back-in-yer-seatness. It seems to pull from about 3000 to 5000, then it continues to go, but does not pull any harder. Does this car need a tune that badly?

I went to the dealer for the same issue. No dice on the reflash, I got denyed. Inparts b/c they are *******s and the guy didnt feel it hesitate. I guess the power curve is just dead after 5k on stock cars. As I have the same issue.

The stock power delivery is pretty lackluster. Boost drops like a rock and AFRs are pig rich. With mapping, it will peak power closer to the rev limiter and accelerate as it should.

Needs a tune. Don't listen about the dealer flash thing. It helps a bit but it still sucks up top and chokes on the gas. Tune is needed and some of us are just waiting to see all the options and results of the different tunes and options.

I finally am real close to the 1,000 mark so I punched it a few times today, nothing crazy. I must say that's it's not very powerful. I'm coming from a 350 whp evo VIII so I'm not really surprised. Anyways, I'll just have to throw on a TBE, MBC, and get it tuned and then I'll probably be very close to where my VIII was.

what's a TBE? and those two things along with a tune will put the X at 350 whp without any other bolt ons?

I came from a Cobra, so I know what you guys are talking about... the cobra just never quit.

However, with the IX, after an 02, TBE, GM Boost solenoid and a kickass ECUFlash 24psi tune... this car RIPS! Just those couple mods and it really pulls nice. Still have 20+psi at 7500rpms. Exhaust/Tune... call it a day (for the time being )

The 1/8th mile times for the evo x stock are supposedly faster than my friends 97 trans am ws6, however, my evo is stock with less than 1000 miles and pulls terribly until 3k, then gives up pulling around 6k. The trans am rips me apart easily. I guess I need a tune also, but I didn't want to put more money into a $35k car and less than 1000 miles into the experience.

Thanks for all of the responses. I was kind of hoping I would hear that the car is just in desperate need of a tune. I have already seen a coupe X's at the track running low 12's. Never got a chance to see their mods though.
