Why oh why Mitsubishi
Why oh why Mitsubishi
Man, I just hate what Mitsubishi did to the Evo X making it such a heavy car that even a stripped down modified X fails to match an equally modified IX.

Watching the video through, the IX was probably at 80% while the driver in the X was struggling to keep ahead. The IX's driver held back purposely for the sake of the video so that he comment on the X performance. Oh well, I guess inevitable that mitsu would swing the dial towards streetability instead of all out performance.

dont forget that IX or VIII have a S-AYC in it. Not like in here in the us. Also Probably way more whp and wtq too. Not to mention the drive train. The X is still lacking in racing experience.
I loved mine IX RS though

It seems pretty silly to call them equally-modified, when the IX has had at least 4 full years of development time to learn its ins and outs and extract every available HP.
You've got 6 months at the absolute most on the X. There's no way you can expect the same level of familiarity as the IX.
If it means anything, that's the first X vs. IX video I've seen where the X lost. I can't tell what they're saying, but it looks like the only reason it lost here was a missed shift. They're both on the straight traveling about the same speed, then there's fire out the X's exhaust, and then the IX suddenly shoots right by while the X driver throws his hands up. Looks like a mistake to me.
