Light questions

Sorry if this has been answered allready but I have looked and can't seem to find this in the forum but...

I have a couple ideas.

1.) Could I splice into my HID's, without negatively affecting anything, so that my DRL's will be on at night also? I have replaced my DRL's with red led's and think it would look cool at night.

2.) Is there a way to run my fogs, also red, with just my DRL's, this isn't a biggy I know I did this in the past on a Jeep Rubicon so that I could run only my fogs if I wanted?

I think it would look pretty cool to have my HID's, red LED DRL's, red fogs, and red corner lights ( you know the small amber one in the corner of the headlight) all at once.

Thanks in advance for the help!!

I'm pretty sure there's strict laws against certain color lights, red being one of them. Can get you into trouble, watch out.

you can't have red or blue running lights, if you do then you are impersonating a police officer

Well there's laws against modifying anything from stock but most of us do that. Has anyone had any problems with this before. I have a friend with an STi and he has a blue light glowing from his hood scoop and he drives like an ***hole and he has never had any problems with that.

Is this pretty difficult..? Also, could I do this so that the fogs and DRL's are on the same switch??

man, if you were in california and rocking those red lights, youd be spread out with your face against the vents of your hood while the CHP officer pats you down.

Neat concept, but i guess if it flies in Colorado, then more kudos to you.... Lucky youre not in Cali...

yeah pretty much what everyone else is going to tell you. the only time you can "rock" your red lights is when you have the car parked and even then you better hope you parked it perfectly. Red and blue lights are reserved exclusively for emercency vehicles. any use of them is impersanating and emercency vehicle which is a felony... in all states. I felt the sting of that one first hand back in the day. hell even in most states the only legal color for under lighting is white

i have no idea on the DRL lights, haven't done any research on how to mess with them. i don't think it is difficult but then again i came up with it so.... sorry i couldn't be more specific but everyone's knowledge and experience is different. i think it is pretty easy to do esp. if you do not hook up the relay. essentially you splice into one wire, run it to a switch, and then ground out the switch. easy enough.

Hmm, must be tuff in the streets of Cali if a cop pats you down on the hood of your car for some red fogs. I think a ticket and a "hey dip****, get rid of the reds!" would suffice...

Anyway, I guess I will rock this till Sunday and change them back to white since it seems the census says no on this one.

Thanks for everyones input

Did you say you bought these bulbs separately or did you somehow paint the stock ones?

I painted the fogs, side markers, and the corner lights... haha

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=345577

You could buy blue lights and I think yellow for the corner markers but I had the front clip off at the shop and pulled apart my headlights and had some white lights I just painted red for free.. good enough for me All in all I spent maybe $15 bucks for everything.

The DRL's are Red LED's. All extremely easy to install. But now I'm feelin a little iffy about it. I would go yellow if I were you yellow with black is pretty S I C K imo...

Thanks!
