I bet that might be the case, Or the ECU resets after break in milage. What mile marker is everyone having this happen to?

I know after a ECU reset on the subie. It will not turn over for about 15-20 seconds. As the ecu goes into a seek and learn mode.

Did anyone notice a differant feeling in the car afterwards? Power? shift points? (MR)

I'm at 14,000 miles, and it still happens, so I don't think breaking-in has anything to do with it...unless I haven't done so yet.

Uhg, this is pretty bad.

I visit and lurk...now and then posting stuff, mostly questions, but lately I've been seeing all types of "EVO X Issue" threads. Problem after problem...from engine not turning over to...dents in the hand break and other types of garbage...and issues that shouldn't be issues.

its a pretty big turn off. I hope Mitsu can get their crap together, this is embarrassing.

As I do agree with you that they need to get their "crap" together, things like dents on the hand brake because of the seat belt whippin' it is more of the user's fault, not Mitsubishi's. But the hand brake COMING OFF, c'mon Mitsubishi!

But otherwise, things like an engine not starting up, is pretty much SORT OF common on a new generation vehicle. When the new BMW 3 series came out (forgot what year it was...2003?), my mom got one, and yes, the almighty BMW even has problems. It had problems starting up. And it got worse over time.

Just wanted to add that it is a 2008 thing. If you look into the GTS forums you will see the same thing. I do not have fast key and have also gotten this issue...twice....Many many have.....One of the members even had the throttle body changed. They linked the issue to it!!!

This your first car? Read any owner's club forums and you will find the same thing for any car. As I've mentioned before, I had an e92 M3 on order for a long time, and have religiously read their OC forums. If you browse over there you will see the same type of issues (less quality, more technical) on a car that is double the price (I am not comparing the two cars, obviously different leagues, but both new models in the first year of production).

You pay the price when you buy a first gen car, but really in the end it is rare you will get a car with zero problems. Sure some people are lucky and have zero issues, but that is rare these days. My parents have been to the dealership with their honda's (they have 4) way more than I ever was with my evo viii, or my current evo x.

I would say it could be winter gas, but it is not winter, at least in the NE there is a noticeable difference on how my cars run.

I wonder if the Mitsu has a crank sensor? if so ask the dealer to check it.

Yes, I've complained about my X from time to time but at least it's not as tragic as the 94 3.8 Mustangs which were blowing head gaskets the second you left the dealers lot! All cars have their issues, the Caliber SRT-4 was stalling while in drive and, thus meaning total lack of control over the vehicle (I can see a law suit in the works)!

i have a base GSR, no fastkey and it happened to my car during and after the break-in period. I think it's because of how rich the car runs depending on how you ran the car before shut off and maybe environmental conditions too.

yeah they have a few problems, my biggest gripe was the seats, and will be the clutch, but the handling makes up for the issues, take one out for a drive they are so smooth. like yuengling MMMMmmmm

I do wish the GSR had a higher 5th gear though, I'm not happy running 3600 rpm at 70-80 mph, it's a waste of gas, I understand why they did it so that you don't have to down shift to spool the turbo, but in 5th I want to save gas.
