Nice.. With less weight and more power, the STI couldn't match the turns thus the EVO was the winner..

No doubt. That was some wickedly quick clutch work and excellent heel-toe technique. And all for nought.

Don't kid yourself, guys. These two cars are so evenly matched, It takes driver recklessness in the braking zones to best one over the other. From the beginning of the first race, it looks like Tsuchiya waited behind from the start to see if he could pass the EVO. Alas, he could not. If it were a drag race from the start, the STI would have got in front, and I bet the EVO would not have passed...

...And it has been this way for 15 years. Nothing has changed...

well evenly matched cars huh? the STI had 28 more hp and 132 lbs less weight. wich is great thing in my eye.
Specially if that is a JDM STI with the 2.0l engine.
But here in the states i think they dont sell those.
And i think that is why he waited on the start because on paper the STI should win it.
if you add 28 hp to the X and take out 132 lbs /wich is easy/ then what?
would be walk around..
And dont forget the USDM evos are not 280 bhp.

this video is a little bandage for the subaru owners for 08

I'm saying that these two cars have been battling it out for 15 years in these videos and *usually* the car who gets out first is the one who wins. Subaru and Mitsu approach their platforms in two totally different ways, and yet their products remain so close in raw performance.

I don't prefer one over the other. I respect both aspects of their chassis development. They make each car better and better every generation...bandages or not.

i actually went to the south coast mitsu dealer to check out the used 08 sti that got traded in for an evo... so i got to compare them side by side.
i ended but picking up an evo and i am glad. i don' know if it s faster or not, but to me, it looks better and drives better!!!

The Evo has spanked the STi in almost every magazine comparison since they have been released in the US.

i dont understand y everyone hating on sti's for... i hav been on subaru forums and they dont hate as much but once in a while someone will hate but about 99% of the time they give congrats to the winner subaru or not subaru...

STI is a great car same with the evo, both have similaraties and diff tchnology both excellent with different feels to them.

In that top gear video evo flt alot faster to jeremy but in the end sti WON doesnt mean they gunna bandage the evos with that video.

every1 needs to relax n jus be glad thy driving a fast car instead of hatin not tryin to B**** but jus to give cheers to every1 n there beautiful competitive cars. Personally the sti looks in person and it grew on me as the evo is... In the end im thinkin about purchasing an evo x. =]
