Is it worth it or no?

Well to get straight to the point, I am turning 20 and want to trade in my 08 lancer gts for the evo x really bad. I've been readying to purchase it but only one issue, THE INSURANCE! I live in souther cali and unforunatitly i was in a pile up on the freeway over a year ago and the lady at fault(well everyone who its someone in the rear end is at fault for following too closely which blows!) didnt have insurance or something so after a couple of days when the police report came out and she found she was going to get fined or sued or something she tried to make a huge scene and began to say she was hurt and went to the hospital, in which all she was given was some advil! But becaues she went, everyone who was backhind her got another point on their record for injury. (on top of the point for following to closely in which everyone got)Which was B.S.!!!! Who says their arm hurts a week later after they found out they were getting cited! Well anyways, I got two points from the lame accident so now my insurance quotes will be from 450-700 a month for the evo x. I pay 150 a month rite now for my gts. the damn insurance for the evo would cost more then my lancer's car payment and insurance combined! Do you think Its worth it getting the evo? or anyone now of a way to get a cheaper insurance rate??? thanx.

Insurance is pretty damn expensive for this car. It is rated 21 out of 24 maximum from insurance companies which is just nuts. Even with clean record you're going to pay close to $200 a month easy for a 20 year old.

Oh I can def tell you it's worth getting the evo, but you got to look at the obvious. Can you really afford that right now?? Does the benefits outweight the risk?? Stay with what you got for now until you can get a better quote or maybe get on someone's policy...

Not worth it IMO. At 20 you need to be banking your money not wasting it on cars, stereos and other crap like that.

<-- I found out the hard way that all that money I wasted when I was 18-22 really was a bad idea. Took me about 4 years to get out from under my poor spending habits. I still spend too much money, but I make a lot more now too!

I agree that is way to much for INS andbnot including the actual note. Think about it you could possibly be spending 1,000/Mth on a car. Not good unless you're rich but still considered poor investment. Save your money b/c you will look back 5 years from now and wish you would have done something else with your money

You were not able to get one of the points wiped by doing driving school? Usually you can talk the judge into allowing it, though I hear there is a new law so that they will have no discretion if it is a 2 point violate in CA anymore.

Just hold off, you are young and can always get an Evo XI or XII or whatever when you have a bit fatter paycheck and insurance goes down.

There are plenty of affordable, lower insurance fun cars out there if you are willing to go used. And you are in Cali, so you don't really need the AWD

That's way too high of an insurance rate for the X. I would stick w/what you have, at least for several months to come. Several hundred for insurance + several hundred for car payment + at least $50 a week on gas + maintenance = bad idea. Well over $1,000 per month for a car is no good for a 20 year old (that's how old I am & I wouldn't be able to take that on). I would suggest checking what the rates are for the Ralliart, when that comes out, if it interests you at all.

WOW! That's crazy!! I'm 25 and I was quoted 845$ per year inc. taxes and replacement cost insurance... In Canada though.

I was about to make my move, but I decided to save up for awhile because even if I make enough money to afford it, I didn't want to have to live with payments of over 800 per month for 5 years... As much as I'm crazy for the car, I prefer not regretting my actions latter on.

GL with your decisions...

Everytime I go on this forum or others I want the car more and more! lol I need to find a way to get the insurance to around 220-250 which I wouldn't mind paying. I know I live in southern cali so wnt really need awd but I like to drive in winter up in the mountains alot and I wnt be able to do that with my gts. I love to go snowboarding but need a truck(but with gas these day's, its not happening) so I want a evo! The way Im looking at it rite now I guess is that, I already have a car payment,(which I don't mind) and the car I'm paying for I think about trading in everytime I drive it, its been less then a year since I've had it so I know I can get the same I owe for it, or a little less and not lose as much, so why not pay an extra couple hundred bux a month to drive that car I love everyday. I don't want to look back when I'm done paying the car off and end up with something that I had to settle for. Or look at all the stupid things I bought every month(cuz I do all the time) and be stuck with a car i've always wanted to trade in. I'd rather put those couple hundred for the car and have something that I'm always going to keep and enjoy. Get what I'm saying. Well thats how I'm looking at it, but when I got those lame insurance quotes I was dissapointed I met a friend in one of my college classes who is an insurance agent near the area I live who might be able to get something affordable for me (like 220-250ish) so I really hope I can get that. All and all, I want to wake up and love what I drive, you only live once you know? so why not enjoy it lol I wnt be stupid tho and pay 500 a month for insurance ha but overall I want a evo X! thx for the feeback you guys.
