the power sliding was a little annoying. i was thinking "come on try to drive the thing flat out without pointlessly breaking traction." but good video.

EVO X vs G8

The evo revs from 3000 to redline in the same time the vauxhall revs 100rpms, oh man what a stretch

Vauxhall looks like the now defunct Pontiac GTO...probably uses the same motor. Than again...isn't that Vauxhall just the same car as the G8?

He says that we can find out which one comes out on top in this weeks issue. Somehow I already know the outcome .

317 Kw = 425 hp so that isn't the regular 6 liter Pontiac G8 (361 hp). that is the British version of the Aussie Club Sport HSV with the 6.2 LS3.

The claimed 0-60 is 4.8 seconds for that sled. Probably gonna be similar for the Camaro SS and upcoming G8 GXP. The LS3 motor is monstrous and really could do better with more traction. Apples to Oranges comparison. I'd have to think I'd enjoy the handling of the Evo over a huge 4 door like that. I can tell you already that I still like the way my evo x moves even comparing it to my LS3 powered vette (at 300 lbs less). Sure, they power comparison is completely an exercise in gayness, but with mods, the evo is still a very interesting car and a hell of a lot more interesting than a full size 4 door. Those kind of cars are stuck between BMW 5-series and large sport coupes like Camaros/Challenger and other retro muscle. I can't help but to not like them very much.

I like the idea of Australian exports, but they ought to give us one of their 400 hp 4-liter turbo straight six Ford Falcon FPV F6 instead.
here's one

Actually one of the cars I am considering buying other than an X is a G8 GXP. Yes, they have nothing in common other than plenty of power and 4 doors...but what other cars fit into that category that are under $40k? STi? Pass. 335i's are just a hair too expensive.

There is something very relaxing about having a huge sedan with tons of room that's also quicker than snot. The G8 is a very appealing package...especially since it's 420+hp and will get better gas mileage than an Evo. But a track car it's definitely not!

To the contrary.. Sometimes that's the fastest way through
You ever see the vid of Top Gear testing the Subie against the X?
The X was driving normally with the rear following the front, and the Subie was driving sideways through the turns. The Evo had more power, but lost it all in the turns because the Subie driver was much better. He ended up going underneath the X sideways into the last turn(as usual), and beat it. They gave the award to the Evo because I guess the felt if the Evo had been driven the same ,it would have won.

that was a reckless unnecessary move. they even admit it. IF both would drive a same way the evo would win it. They both know it. That is why they gave it to the evo.
the sliding is not a fastest way making turn on dry tarmac. That is fact.

Huh?? Top Gear had 1 driver drive both cars. Are you talking about a different show?
