Lightbulb I want to blackout my tail lights

I want to black out my tail lights, without having to open them and paint the inside.

I was not able to find tail light covers (GTS, Ventshade, Lund).

I did find the smoked foil stickers. My question: Has anybody tried this foil cutouts?

Any other ideas? I just got a plate frame shield combo to black the bottom out, but need help with the tail lights.

You can cook them in the oven.

I'm gonna get the Ralliart tails.

not the same car. but I have "cut out" vinyl "stickers" on my cobra. look great, and you apply them like vinyl stickers so they are removable.

example:

when you hit the brakes they are easily visible during a Sunny day

I had the vinyl tail on my 350Z from "Blue Batmobile" You can find him on pretty much every forum...

http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/BlueBatmobile2005/

This is his photobucket. Im pretty sure he made the overlay for the X already. Saw it somewhere, but can't find it as of now.

It's the cheaper route. ~30$ but the hard part is your own skills.. It will not look as "clear coated" as a painted look, but it gets the job done.

Soap Water + Heatgun + your tinting skills! If you screw up, don't worry, peel off and redo... I did mine in 30 minutes. Z tail lights are tricky because it's a round shape. Prepare a needle to pop any small air bubbles.

and Yes, when you hit the brake, the red light shines through no problem...

I just tinted mine on my PB this weekend and I really can't stand them!!! They don't look right next to the color of the car. I even re-applied the tint with a lighter set and they don't look any better. Of course, this is just my opinion.

When I was taking them apart, I checked to see if they could be baked...no luck. Looks like the plastic is heat welded.

I'm gonna get the Ralliart tail lights since that's about the only other option out right now.

spray the light

paint them. I pulled mine off and the whole job took about an hour. Go to a local hobby shop and get the RC Car lexan tint spray ($6 a bottle). hit it with 2-3 light coats and dry for about an hour and re-install. it looks really nice and way better than the tint film

So you are saying spray the outside of the light? No opening of the housing, right?

Can you still see the lights during the day?

absolutely. (as long as you dont spray like 30 coats)

this is a great way to do it, but its a lot harder to reverse.

if you have a PB car, well its not a true black so it looks kinda funny if you go too dark, but on a WW car or other colors it would be sweeeet.

yes, but I wouldnt reccomend it, HID's get very hot and who knows what that will do to the paint.

a better way to do it would be to blackout the housing on the inside of the headlight (though definatly not as easy)

Take it to a professional and have them smoke it. All other options don't compare.
