Call Mitsubishi Customer Relations and formalize your complaint with them. Get a case number established, and start the papertrail. You may need this for arbitration later. The number is: 714-372-6000. I think the more we complain, the better the chances of action being taken.

Tech bulletin released yesterday TSB-08-66-001

Mitsubishi released a technical service bulletin for repair of the side skirts of aero kit. I'd like to believe that the folks that complained about this on the Evo boards made this happen -- thanks!

I have a poor fax copy of it, and it appears to involve removing some tape on a mounting bracket and replacing it with a thinner piece of tape. The procedure only appears to fix the rear part of the kit, and does nothing to address the poor fitment at the front of the kit.

Can anyone post a clean copy of TSB-08-66-001?

The Mitsubishi part number for the kit is MZ314239 (Kit, Side Air Dam Repair).

won't they blame an aftermarket exhaust for causing excess speed thus voiding your warranty?

Well, the formal arbitration resulted in a ruling in MMNA's favor. Looks like MMNA wins on this one, and we get stuck with an Aero Kit that fits poorly. I'm going to get a body shop to look at it to come up with a fix.

Very disappointing.....

I haven't had a chance to get mine fixed, but I have a good idea on how to do it, or have a shop do it. The service manager at the dealership showed me the mounting mechanism for the standard side skirt compared to the Aero. The standard one has a little plastic tab at the rear that bends around and grabs the body of the car. The Aero kit skirt doesn't -- it relies on tape and push-in clip. That little tab keeps the standard skirt tight up against the body of the car. I believe the solution will be to attach a tab to the Aero kit in the same manner.

Here a pic from Xtremist's car showing the rear mount. Where you see that rivet on the skirt --- imagine a plastic/metail tab or strip that extends from behind that off to the left, and grabs the sheet metal on the car that you see to the left.

My driver's side was messed up in the back. Weird. I'm letting them know about it and make them fix it. Maybe they'll start designing things better in the future.
