First Drive Evo x

Well after visiting the Subaru dealer last weekend and driving the 08 sti,I talked my wife into looking at the Evo x.I drove a gsr and was impressed with the power delivery and the handling,I wanted to just take it home.I truly miss having a fun car like the sti that I miss more than i'll admit. Then I drove the mr and it took me a little time to get used to the semi automatic transmission.I personally prefer the 5 spd.in the gsr.Maybe i just need more time in the 6spd of the mr.I really like the evo over the sti,in style, handling and power even with a 2 liter. Its gonna be her daily driver so she gets to pick which model, she is set on a jet black mr that has all the options I think.

Funny.......my wife is looking for new cars too. She has driven:

Saturn Sky
4dr Wrangler
325i
330i
X3
X5
XC90
Porsche Boxter

Talk about a range............bar none here choice is a X5, but I may force her to settle for here second choice a XC90.

Good luck with the purchase.

Who's paying for it? If you are, then you need to exercise you right to "alter" her decision. You want the 5-spd, tell her she gets to pick the car, but you get to pick the model and options.

^ Wtf that makes no sense. The car is going to be for the wife therefore she should pick options and model. If not then why even mention its for the wife?

It is phantom black my mistake. It is for her and she is picking out the car and options,I was just throwing in my 2 cents as far as the transmission goes.

Why would he pay for the car if it's HER DD? That part makes no sense.

Because he has a wife....obliviously he's in a good relationship to buy his love a car that is an amazing DD. I think he's a good husband to get his wife an STi or Evo....maybe I should marry him. Hahaha. really what's so hard about to get?

The evo will be her DD and for me to borrow on weekends or certain weekdays that we switch cars. She is also comprimising on the car (she wants gs350) to make me happy.About 2 years ago when I got laid off from Toyota as a tech I sold my 05 sti for 35k cash and gave her 30k to help us financially.Due to financial reasons we really cant afford 2 car payments. My daily is a mint 97 Toyota t100 with 95k I had since new.I have been married to her for 24 years so we pretty share everything.

24 years, is a REAL accomplishment. Congrats.

When i read stuff like that it gives me hope for society. Continue to treat her well mate. I'd love to be able to afford an MR for my wife.

Update

Well we went back to the dealer today and my wife drove the gsr and was impressed. She asked me which one to get gsr or mr,I told her that if its for me it would be the gsr.But I told her to get the mr because I knew thats what she really wanted. We drove it home and i'll take some pics tomorrow.I was trying to swap batteries with the gsr cause it had a Optima redtop that the dealer installed. The sales manager was ok with it but I had no tools to use and it was getting late so I just cancelled my plans.
