What's weird is, while I'm tapped in 4th gear at that point, the car's not leaning a whole lot (thanx to being Muellerized), and it's certainly not the spot on the track with the highest G loads. Filled the tank, and no more problems.
I came back into this thread, as I ran a search on a fix for it.

It's a huge help, and easily one of my fav mods....peace of mind if key on track. Also helps shed quite a few pounds of fuel if you are looking for some quick laps.

Thanx for the tip.
What'd it cost? Also, I can't find it on AMS' website.

AMS hasn't released a production piece yet, should be very soon though. Pricing will be announced upon release.

Not out yet huh..? I wonder if there's a way to get foam into the stock tank...
I'm damn tempted to try to find a cheap fuel cell. The stock tank is small enough as it is. If you have to cut it in half, you're only left with 7 gallons to play with while getting 5-8mpg on the track.
There's gotta be an easier solution. Move the pick-up...something.
Where's all the geniuses when you need 'em?

Here's my car suffering badly from fuel starvation:

I initially though it was hitting limp mode due to the MBC but was scratching my head as to why it only did it after the long left hander.

The AMS surge tank is unreal. If you are going to spend much time on the track in your X this product is a must. Well worth the money...

I'm debating if I want to be proactive or reactive. I'm trying to conserve my tire and brake budget for the 2009 track season.

A fuel surge tank is a good idea for anyone planning on tracking their car. It doesn't take much to cause some serious detonation. The car wants to see a certain amount of fuel for a given load. Example: You are coming out of a turn @ WOT and your pump starves, the proper fuel pressure won't be achieved, the rail won't recieve the proper pressure, AFR's will be lean and in return you may get some serious detonation. I'm speaking from experience with fuel starvation, it is much cheaper to have a backup supply then throw a rod through your pricey Evo X block.

I also think a lot of problems get oversensationalized on Internet forums and presented as epidemics when they really only affect a handful of (un)lucky people. I can see how this could potentially be a serious concern for the more hardcore track guys like Blacktrack but I'll just keep my tank topped off until I decide to start running R Compounds.

I don't disagree with you (I see it all the time) and I don't beleive I was making it seem like it was epidemic, I did not mean to come across that way. I was speaking from personal experience and it happened on street tires with a half tank. I would just hate to see something bad happen from fuel starvation. I could have been more specefic with what I was refering to. I can see it being a much larger issue for the hardcore track guys.

I don't think you're lucky; your track probably doesn't have any high speed left hand sweepers. It really does only seem to be the higher speed left handers that cause the problem as I've had no problem with the slower corners.

As for the surge tank solution: I can't see myself running this in my daily driver....
