Smart man! So far we have gotten ZERO feedback from Specialty-X/Z on this issue. They like to just post photos of how well the exhaust fits while their shop car is on a lift in their shop. It makes me extremely proud anyone decides NOT to buy their product based on their customer service!

Yes I followed your issues with this exhaust. The one other Specialty X "substitute" I considered was the cp-e dual canister which sounded pretty aggressive but it appears to hang a bit low. I figure ETS is know for fitment and they are ever present on the forums for support and feedback so....

Are any of these people using the full TBE or just the CBE?

I've got this exhaust on my car and the sound is nice at idle and not alot of cabin noise at WOT on freeway. The only down side I see is the weight...think 25-30 lbs? anyways, guys at Specialty X hooked me up!

Both I believe. I have the TBE, one of them has cat only, not certain though. The issue is with the cat Y-pipe.

I installed two of the four today, testpipe and midpipe, and they slipped on much easier than expected. I didn't need to use any grease or heat, they just popped right on with a little shove. I spent more time pulling the stock rubber ones off. I'm going to see if these two alone alleviate my rattle and if not then I'll install the two for the muffler.

Soapy water in a spray bottle works like magic on the exhaust hangers. Put some dishwasher liquid in an empty glass-cleaner or other spray bottle with some water and keep it in the garage.

^I used a few squirts of PB Blaster to help remove the stock ones.

So I'm thinking of going with Specialty X after all. Has anyone tried the urethane exhaust hangers to alleviate the rubbing?

Hold off a bit...Seb at Specialty-X is working on a redesign of the Y-pipe. He is sending some out to those of us that have issues to see if it fixes the problem. From being under my car so many times trying to find a solution, I don't see how the hangers would help at all. Two people under the car pulling on the exhaust and we still cannot get the exhaust to move even remotely close to the shaft.

Go to Google and search for "Specialty Z". Specialty X was just their Evo X line of products but it looks like they have just brought them back under the Specialty Z brand as they are mostly a Nissan shop.

edit: Found the link - https://specialtyz.com/shop/

The fitment is still shotty at best. They stopped supporting the X when they found out there was a problem with fitment. They shipped out a few replacement units (stateside) but by that time it was to late I think. On top of that Seb fell ill during the bad fitment problem and I think it just overwhelmed them. That is just IMHO. That being said, I would never recommend them or purchase from them again, even if I owned a Z.

Hey silicontek, I actually went thru every page of the 60 page evox forums regarding this exhaust and followed your issue. It was all praise and rave reviews until page 47 of that thread, and I wonder how much, if any still holds up.

I still have 2nd thoughts about the exhaust, but based on how everything played out, I'm still willing to give them a go. Seb has told me that the issue only affected a small percentage of customers. I'm about to call them today and give them my cc, so any additional details is valuable.

Cheers
