Thumbs up making the car lighter

I know there are many threads about weight loss but I am planning on making my evo X (base) about 200lbs less. I can feel the weight sluggishness especially drivng slow and under the boost. I absolutely love this car and have an AMS exhaust & intake so far. I don't track or anything just daily driving fun

Here is my plan so far please correct me if the weight is not accurate:

-spare & accessories (50lb)
-AMS AC delete kit (20lb)
-AMS small battery (20lb)
-enkei RPF 18 X 8.5 should shave (20lbs?)
-back seat??
-already have AMS exhaust (20lb)

Anymore weight savings?

drill out the door panels, take off crash beams, strip all interior, remove all electronics, say bye bye to insurance and a safe vehicle, as well as several hundred pounds.

you could shave a few lbs by swapping out the battery

the battery on my car was around 37-40lbs... I went with a 21lbs braille no-weight battery (jegs.com has like the best price on it)

if your turning it into a full track/drag car i can understand but just for DD?

You can take out the front recaros and take booster seats from a chuck'y cheese shave down the sides and sit on that?

I agree, and I wouldn't take out the spare either. With an AWD car that's daily driven, who knows how long you'll have to wait to get a flat-bed tow if you get a flat tire. Previous threads have pointed out the wait time for Mitsubishi's included towing service is abysmal. Take it out at the track, sure, but the OP doesn't do that.

And we do have rear headrests BTW. I only know because taking them out makes it infinitely easier to clean the inside of back window.

A 2-piece brake rotor will take quite a bit of unsprung weight out. As much as 4-7 lbs. per corner. Going with a replacement kit like the Stoptech 4 piston BBK will yield even bigger weight savings.
Most of the weight in these cars is in the chassis, not the components, which makes it difficult to extract any real weight savings. Any weight you can save that is unsprung (wheels, tires, brakes, suspension) will make the chassis feel that much more in contact with the road.

You could probably shed some weight by switching out the stock Recaros for a nice set of one-piece race seats. I'm not sure the back seat weighs a lot, so it might not be worth deleting (especially for a street driven car). Also, you could look into swapping out some of the steel bracing underneath the engine and intercooler with some custom aluminum pieces (of equal strength of course). I definitely think there could be some savings there--when I get some time I'm going to try and whip up some brackets myself .

Also, except for the A/C delete, most of what you've removed (or are planning to) is from the back half of the vehicle which is something to think about. If it were me I'd be paying more attention to removing weight from the front of the car, as our cars have about ~10% more weight over the front wheels in stock form and taking more weight off the back only increases that number.

Oh, and don't forget out Girodisc's two-piece calipers; they're a few pounds lighter and they look super cool. Me wants.
