Is this BS? Seems like BS to me, but who knows. It's raining outside so I can't really try this. Anyone wanna give it a shot?

In theory this should work. It's simple unit conversion. It won't be perfectly accurate, but since PSI is pounds/in^2 and you are finding the area of the tire in in^2, the in^2 cancel out through the multiplication and your are left with pounds on that wheel.

I would still think that there are several other factors involved in this that would affect it, one for sure being how accurately you measure the tire pressure and the area of the tire, because you are dealing with a small number, so any error could throw you off a bit. However, it still seems like something is missing, but in theory off the top of my head i would say yes this works.

edit: i just thought about this more, and i would say yes for sure this works. But will only be as accurate as you are in your measurements.

May be useful but not accurate.

There are no other factors involved and this method will work; however, the accuracy will be very poor because of the method for finding the tire footprint (it wont actually be a rectangle) and the measuring equipment being used.

Edit: It will also depend on the tire tred you have and that is not accounted for in this method. Using slicks would help to be more accurate.
