Question Problem with colour?

So i went to mitsubishi dealer today and when the light hit the evo, i saw some disorientation with the colour. The back bumper seems to be purpleish...is this normal? why do you think it is like this?

Difference between paint on metal and paint on plastic with the metallic flake. It is more noticeable on dark colors.

That's the Phantom Black PEARL. The pearl they use reflects differently and give off a different color in different light. When I went shopping for the Evo, it almost looked brown w/ the light I was looking at.

This is a fairly common occurrence. Most manufacturers use a different type of paint on the bumpers that allows the paint to flex with the plastic without cracking. This results in the slightly different coloring. I never bothered to determine if Mitsubishi does this, but this thread would seem to indicate they do.

As scottatayamaha, it's far easier to tell on dark colors.
