FAST Key

Any idea if you can disable the Fast Key and use the emergency to start?

If your FAST key battery dies you can use the emergency key to start the car.

You just have to reverse the key and insert it back into the fob. A diagrams is included on the FOB and in the manual.

thanks for the reply. The problem is I don't have the FAST key and I don't want to buy a new one from the dealer for $250! It's going to be a race car so I don't mind setting up a toggle start switch so I'm trying to figure out how to by-pass the whole FAST system. I bet a wiring diagram would help.

The car is equipped with the FAST key system but you don't have the fob? Why?

Why would guys find it suspicious that a guy would buy an MR or an SSS-equipped GSR to strip out into a race car? :P

conspiracy police

A little “skeptical” aren’t we!!?

I bought a wrecked X and it didn’t have any of the keys. See some of the story here:

The car is at the bottom of my Cars page here if you’d like to see it:

If anyone has any useful info, let me know.

What do you expect. And no, you have to have the fob with you. Try calling Mitsubishi corporate and tell them your problem they might find a solution for you.

Quick Follow-Up:

The service manual indicates that the KOS system can be turned off so I'll try having my dealer do that and see what happens. It should also be noted the you can program the KOS and FAST key to do other things...like windows, different beeps or light flashes.
