Stock Shock/Strut Problem

I'm curious if anyone has had a problem with the stock shocks/struts? I have about 1100 miles and I think my front left may be bad. Any type of bump the last few days makes a creaking/crunchy noise that is very noticeable.

Check the strut for 1 of 3 things: 1 - dealers have been known to leave the white plastic spring wedges in place from shipping on floor cars. 2 - if the strut is blown there will be oil/goo coming out of it. 3 (optional) - a bag of chips founds its way into your suspension.

Going to go with 1 or 2 though

The spring spacers being left in by the dealer by accident is my suscpicion. Oh, and the spacers are black rubber blocks; not white wedges. If it does turn out that it's just a defective strut, then they should replace both front units rather than just the one to maintain uniform damping characteristics. It'll get covered under warranty as long as you haven't modified the strut/spring assembly. Please tell me you aren't running lowering springs, because if that's the case, then you are to blame and warranty will not cover it. Lowering springs are well known for blowing out struts in no time flat. They reduce the travel of the damper and wear it excessively quick.

Ah, thanks. I remember them being white plastic on the 8 for some reason.

But, not all springs kill the struts. Struts do not care where they stroke from. But they do care if they bottom out.
