"Blips" at full throttle?

Well, about a month ago I got kinda jumpy and went full throttle through 3rd and 4th. At about 5000rpm in 4th, it felt as if i had taken my foot off the gas then slammed it back on. It was a really quick drop in power but very noticeable.

It's happened a few more times since then, but tonight I realized another kinda "blip" in 2nd 3rd and 4th. I wasnt really able to watch and see what rpms it happened at, but at least once in each gear, i think twice in 3rd. It wasn't as serious as the previous times, but i could surely feel a "blip" ( i dont know what other word to use lol). Kinda like if a heart missed a beat? Misfire or something? I have no idea. I dont have much experience in these kinds of things. Anways, anyone have any ideas? I planned on going to the track soon but I"m not gonna go waste my time if something's up with the car.

Have you gotten the factory reflashes? They supposedly cleaned up some hesitation over 5krpm.

But... if the bucking is too severe... This behavior marked the beginning of the end of my clutch. Try this. Cruise at 4krpm in 4th on the highway. Then hit the throttle all the way. Your car should just "go like tiger" but if it hesitates or the RPMs go up and the car doesn't speed up, then the rpms drop and then the car goes faster... your clutch is going too.

hesitation or stumble is probably the word you are looking for, and it sounds like the usual problem that was supposedly fixed by the first and second reflashes from the dealership. If you haven't yet had the flashes, take it to your dealer and ask them for the factory reflash, it is free of charge.

If thats not it, I would of said cold weather contributing to a boost/fuel cut but it looks like you are down south, don't think it gets too cold down there...

My X has been doing that even with the 2nd factory reflash. In fact, after the reflash it has done even weirder things like cutting out bad (like it hit the rev limiter) above 5000rpm, stuttered BAD at 55mph in 5th gear just cruizing, and has a weird "blip" when I let of the gas part way (just when cruizing). I'm getting an AccessPort to see if it helps. My car is bone stock too.

Lots of people are experiencing this I believe, as well as I am. 55mph in 5th should be around 2500 rpm's(+/- 250rpms) which is where, in each gear, people get this prob. Feels like a lose of power, its a hesitation really. The AP will fix this problem, its in the tune, its probably just a misfire, but from what I've read many people are having this problem.

edit: I have the factory reflashes as well, or so my dealership says, I'm not convinced but they say i have both.

Yea my car had the same hesitation after about 5500rpm but a custom tune fixed that right up.

I wouldn't bother with the factory reflashes cause a custom tune will fix all those problems and awaken your cars inner beast

Where is a good place to get a custom tune? Do they void the warranty?
Im a noob, sorry if these q's have been asked before. I live in Southern California, in LA, where would be a a legitimate place to get a custom tune?

I went ahead and did that and I'm pretty sure it's not the clutch. It took off right away with no hesitation, but closer to 6k i felt it again. I went to a dealership about a week ago to see about the reflash but the guy who does them wasn't there.

YES*

*unless you don't advertise you have one and go back to stock if something breaks and you go back to the dealership

ETA: glad it's not the clutch

I had something similar - a cough/blip/bang that jolted things badly. First time I didn't realize that it was engine (thought I'd hit a pothole!). On the 3rd time it dropped into limp-home-mode.

Problem was a stuffed airflow meter. It was clearly showing stupid Readings using a plugin tool. Had it replaced under warranty and problem went away.

The car seems to be experiencing normal rich AFR misfires.

We have cured the misfires from factory ECU programming with our ZChip for Evo X.

You should check it out at www.zchip.net.

It just went on sale as our manufacturing process has been streamlined. Its on sale for $399 at http://ttp-engineering.com/catalog/p...roducts_id=371

Let us know if you have any questions about it.

Oh my god! This guy explains the problem with my car better than I do!

So I am not alone.

"It felt as if i had taken my foot off the gas then slammed it back on." This exactly how I would say it. The weirdest thing is how Chevron gas makes it worse.

Everyone is saying that a tune will fix it... I just hope that 10 months/14000 miles of it misfiring or detonating or whatever its doing hasnt already done irrepairable damage.
