What are the best bargains for in-car cameras?

I'm not really sure which forum this best relates to so I'm posting this here.

There seems to be tons of options and I'm clueless. I'm looking for something I can mount inside the car for HPDEs that will (obviously) pass tech.

Thanks.

Uses any camera with a tripod mount. I have dipped the ends in rubber handle grip - still works awesome.

Awesome. Considering I don't already have a video camera, I figure the cost would be comparable to get something already designed for track use (Like the item posted above).

That said, I couldn't imagine that suction cup thingy passing tech.

Ah, gotcha.

Might still work. If you get a digi camera with mount then you get more uses out of it. Those track cameras are more of a one-trick pony.

I figured as much. I don't really need a video recorder for anything else. I figure if I ever have a child, I'll make her give birth on the hood of the car, preferably on-track at Summit Point.

I technically use my digi camera. It also has a video function - not great but good enough for what I need.

Awesome - I wonder if you'd mind putting this in the motorsports section?

i bought a Hero 3 (latest is 5) for 29.99 at Northface. They are doing a monthly promotion or something.

It's the one with the arm band so it's not a wide lens. I was thinking of getting the motorsport-kit. Is it worth it, or should I just a big velcro thingy and wrap it around my passenger seat like the above picture?
