I just checked mine the other day and it's a panasonic... it's working fine, but is there a way I could go to the dealer and get the red top if I drained the battery or something? or will they say my mods killed it?

Just had my Panasonic swapped out under warranty for the RED TOP OPTIMA. 27 months though, so still cost me $180.00, my 50% from 25-37 months on the warranty.

Its soooooooo funny somebody posted this...My Panasonic battery had been acting up ever since we had those crazy snow storms this past winter.I even got a jump box to use whenever the Car wouldnt crank.Mitsu told me this past friday that the battery had a damaged cell and would have to order the new replacement and b here tomorrow.I thought me driving the X only on weekends is what made the battery weak.I hope they ordered the Optima Red Top and I pick it up tomorrow...All under warranty thankgoodness.Ive only had the X a year and a half

You can hang that "special hose to vent the gases" in your garage.
Just get a light weight battery like me and save 20 pounds.

My battery wouldn't start the car the day after I left the dealer so i had to push start that thing for like 3 days and when I went to get another one they just tossed in another Panasonic battery off one of their lot tens, I even asked for the Optima and they said thats the only one they had.

Exact same thing happened to me....i bought the car, drove home, jumped it with my old '96 car, friends said it was fine, drove to get food with it, jumped it again, and then stalled it like a min from my friends place.......so jumped it again, called the dealership and just made it in time

they took the battery out of the newest car on the lot

will they replace the panasonic if you ask them to or only if it dies? I mean, if it's known to die, then it needs to be replaced anyway right? Like I asked before, can't I drain mine or something and get a new one?

is this the ODYSSEY = PC680 small battery the one you are talking about? I thought if those smaller ones sat for a few days without starting they would go dead?

Mine had a Panasonic in it that died. I decided to buy myself a yellow top and put that in. Haven't had any problems since.

It all depends on if the battery can still take a charge, they would probably test the battery before taking it out, if it is still in good health, they just get you running, and tell you to run it for a while to help recharge.
