you'll cry when you start hitting over 10psi of boost. the bar is non-existent
I have MPG up most of the time.
In winter, when there's snow, or when I'm ripping it through turns, I put it on the SAWC screen to see how it is engaged, just for kicks.
On a rare occasion, I have it on the trip meter screen.

Engine temp. until it is fully warmed up, then avg. mpg (this one keeps from driving like a jerk, most of the time) and if I decide to hit it hard straight line style, it will be the SAWC. SAWC is just for kicks and like previously posted if you are cornering hard you won't be looking at the little screen.
-1 for not having an actual Fuel Gauge
-1 for not having an actual Fuel Gauge
Then you're not pushing it hard enough
Same thing I do now - temp until warmed up, then MPG after that.

no you're correct - the user manual specifically says you're supposed to warm it up until at least one bar shows up on the engine temp before starting your drive. leaving it idle doesn't harm your car other than the fact you're simply wasting gas idling beyond that point.
Also, to be exact the temperature gauge measures COOLANT temperature, not engine temperature. The engine is perfectly warmed-up while the coolant is still reaching steady state operating temperature (~180 F).
Oh, and I mostly have mine set to MPG.

The fuel gauge is wildly inaccurate also, I tend to watch the trip meter and that is what I base my fuel level at. I have driven about 30-45 miles past the 2ND low fuel warning and have never had an issue, I tend to fill up at about 260-270, usually about 13 gallons.
I have never used the AWC screen, no point... I won't be looking at it when I am blazing through a turn to actually see it light up.
On a cold start I will watch the temp gauge, but I won't wait, I'll take off from the driveway but just stay out of boost until I get a couple of bars, then I'll pick it up.

I know its so frustrating... i want to watch the bars light up but I REALLY want to hit that apex

oh and I leave it on MPG... but I think now I'm going to do temp first --> then mpg but I never drive it hard on startup anayway

Engine temp mostly cause I'm to lazy to switch it to something else, although I did use the MPG screen for a week to see if I could improve my mileage but it depressed me to much so back to the temp screen.
I don't believe in gauges so I base my gas tank my trip miles. Every time I fuel up, I reset the trip so I know approximately when I need to fill up. Other than that, temp gauge is what I leave it on.
