This is weird

So I bought the car yesterday and this morning the finance guy calls me from the dealership and he left a message saying that mitsubishi financing doesnt like siblings cosigning for eachother. I got the 0%. He said that he needs me to get my mom to cosign but I told them that she has a high dti ratio. He said if she doesnt get approved then we have to renegotiate rates. Our entire deal was based off of the 0%. What do uou guys think about this?

Are the papers already signed? I'd tell them the should have thought of that before papers were signed. They wouldn't let you go back on your agreement.

I call bull, sounds like he's just tryin to suck more money outta you, I mean if you qualified and got the 0%, a deals a deal, IMO when someone cosigns with you they would check their credit and from there if its no good then then you would never gotten the deal

I say keep the evo and the 0% sounds like one of their get rich quick plans, or screw the evo owner over lol

i wouldn't be able to go back to negotiate my rate to get 0% (which i qualify for but wasn't offered at the time i bought), so why do they think they can? a deal is a deal. sign and sealed. the sales guy probably did whatever he could to get you out the door at 0%. his mistake and his fault. not your problem.

edit: if you have to go back to renegotiate then i would just bring the car back and let them lose the sale. then go buy somewhere else.

I agree 100%. He was approved for the 0%, which I was told requires a credit rating of 740+. Now whether that is based off some lower number if you cosign I don't know, but the deal is done. Read the fine print and see if there are any clauses for them to break the contract.

I call this bull. Dealership screwed up and now they have to pay the price. If they want to renegotiate, ask them to turn back the time before you had signed them papers.

for this dealership.

Agreed 100%.

Glad to hear the OP got a lawyer involved, don't let the dealer have their way.

Should'a read the fine print. Some states have clauses that allow dealerships X number of days to validate / secure financing. If they are unable to do so, they can force you to re-negotiate or reclaim the vehicle. I've only ever heard of it happening recently (yay credit crisis).

^that's what it was, plus there's some loop holes. My attorny was just here and reviewed the documents and called the manager.

I think I am returning the car this Friday. Yes, I'm dissappointed, but I've waited months to buy this. Another month won't hurt.

For legal purposes I'm taking down how much I paid for this car and whatnot.

Now, for the follow on -- if you are a nice guy, say where you bought the car and what color it was and options it had. The dealership can still sell it as "brand new" to someone else even though you've had it for X number of days. Since the financing never went through, it's never actually been titled... and still sellable as "brand new".

Yup. Well, I've researched pricing and negociating skills for months and they came to use. But I wasn't expecting anything regarding the documentation.

So now I know. Next dealership I go to is the Triplex, and if I don't get the deal I want then I'll do what I originally intended to do and buy from South Coast.

Mods, please delete this thread. I'll write a full review on this dealership AFTER everything is settled.

Smart move. Whether he's lying or not, it's not your effin' problem. A deals a deals a deal. If the contract was signed and finalized by both parties let him eat the difference. Dealerships pull this crap every freakin national bank holiday. They are more concerned with getting the sale than making sure it's correct. Bait and switch, I don't think so.

I'm returning the car unless the dealership straightens up.

I'll explain it all after it's done.
