Fog light grill on GSR

Not sure if everyone has noticed this, but the fog light grill is "solid" on the driver's side of the GSR. On the MR, it is mesh. Both models it is mesh on the passenger side.

Anyone know why the driver side would be solid?

I think it looks stupid (call me weird). I'm thinking of switching it out with the MR mesh grill, but want to make sure that the solid grill doesn't serve a real purpose.

The only reason the other one is mesh is because there is an oil cooler (small radiator) back there and the mesh provides air flow to it. The other side has no need for this airflow.

I have extra HID lights "driving beam" (Long Range High beam and 50 watts) down there next to the fogs so I have mesh on both sides. I bought a replacement passenger side mesh type and modified it (mirror image) to replace the solid one on the drivers side. My Extra HID's are mounted behind the mesh on both sides.

Check it out on www.HIDbulbzRus.com Its on the home page (front page).

This Website only sells HID bulbs, TYPES: D2S, D2R and D1S bulbs.

No kits, no ballasts, no, Chinese cheap kit conversion bulbs or ballasts. NO JUNK. Only Quality HID bulbs made in Europe by Philips, GE and Osram (Sylvania).

The slight purple color of the Drivers side lower HID is the cameras fault, not accurate.

just get the MR mesh no need to purchase and modify the one for the passenger side of the GSR. it is very simple to switch out as well. the evo x has the oil cooler on the passenger side and the MR has the trans cooler on the drivers side so air flow is needed. i am running the MR grill on my GSR, fits great looks stock. there is plenty of room behind the grills, although much more on the drivers side since no coolers on the GSR. that is where i have my BOV mounted on my lower intercooler piping, so it sounds great with the MR gill on.

Wish I had known that, It would have saved me about an hour of mod work. Oh well.
The MR was not out yet when I purchased my car or that mesh piece, maybe that part would not have been available in early 2008.

I changed my fogs as soon as it was possible. If you want to keep the fog lights, just go to the dealer and order the MR mesh. Should be around or less then $50.

Is that the part number for the passenger side mesh or MR driver's side mesh?

According to RussellM, that is the driver side grill mesh for the MR.

Hold on a second. I just did a parts search and I'm not sure if that is the correct part. That part number I got is considered the "left" foglight grill for the MR. I'm feeling like we want the "right" side. But, I'm not sure which side is technically considered the Right of the Left of the vehicle.

Make sure to call RussellM and confirm the part before ordering anything.

Here's where I did the part search.

OK, maybe that part number is the correct number. Check out this thread https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/mi...arts-list.html

Either way, it's probably best to call RussellM and confirm on the phone before ordering.
