is the shifter really notchy ?

i drove an 08 evo X gsr with sss today for about 30 min and the shifter would always grind into 2nd and 3rd, even with the clutch depressed all the way down, the only time it did not was if i was really cruising slow.
is this normal? i realize the car has been sitting on the lot 1.5 years, hell they had to jump the battery for the test drive.

There are few threads covering this. Overall, some say it's still a problem, while others not. Once the transmission fluid heats up, the shifting is much better. Apparently changing the fluid, engine mount, or shifting bushings goes a long way in making the shifting smoother. After some miles, about 1500 on my car, all feels OK.
