warranty

They're only mod/tuner friendly if THEIR service department performed the mod! I know this personally! My car is still in warranty but I threw a CEL. I took it in and they immediately charge you $100.00 to do an "Diagnostic". And if the CEL is due to a modification....... you pay the charge. If it is not, then you don't. Also, was told that if it is due to a mod, any repair charge won't be covered by the warranty!

Cannot void, unless part that is in question caused the failure. I.e. Aftermarket clutch and blown trans - they wont do the work on that one.

+1
it event says this in the ownders manual.
using a non-mitsu part may result in a failure not being covered under warranting if the non-mitsu part causes the failure in question
Can you honestly blame Mitsubishi here guys? Come on you're putting other people's parts in their car and excepting them to replace or repair the vehicle when the issue could be caused by the after-market part or tune? If that were the case Mitsubishi would have closed their doors years ago.
P.S. "If your gonna play, you gotta pay"! - Those words came from a Mitsubishi service manager.

the dealer itself cannot void your warranty. they have to contact DPSM which can do it or someone higher. He/She can limit coverage.
Ours limited one on a evo x with Buscher exhaust. of course the kid ran his mouth demanding the car get replaced, shouldnt put out black soot, etc.
My question is why does TPMS needs reprogramming? if you changed wheels, replaced sensor(for breakage) then it shouldnt be covered. that is not their responsibility if you just upgraded wheels and want it reprogrammed.
at my dealer we are good with customers with mods. if we turn all Evos away for a boost guage then we loose alot of business. We mod cars also. but if it in fact caused the problem with the car then we cant do it.

my tpms was reprogrammed with the car sitting on floor.
you'd be surprised how many techs don't know oem from aftermarket. one of the techs at a dealership (which will remain nameless) thought my ssr type-f 19" wheels were stock...

Bought my X just a few days ago...salesman basically told me that if I put any aftermarket part on the car that I could kiss my warranty goodbye, regardless of the aforementioned law (you still have to hire a lawyer to get action under those laws!). It almost put me off on buying the car. He explained that Auto-Xers would blow them up and expect the drivetrain warranty to be covered, etc. I can understand the warranty only covering street cars but are they seriously going to void my warranty over a CBE? It'd be the first and last Mitsu I ever bought if it goes down that way.

2. out of all evo on the road, the percentage of owners that actually track their cars more than once are the minority. with that said, even if all those who track blew their s**t up and came to their dealerships to get warranty, they would still be the minority. i think that saleman trolled around a few forums and got wind of people trying to do that. a prime case of "a little knowledge can be dangerous."
