Use AMSoil?

Hey guys... I just ordered some of the 0w30 SSO AMSoil Anyone else here use that type? I was going to go with the standard 10w30, but this other stuff might help a bit more with fuel econ and since I don't drive my car hard a whole lot it seems to be the better oil for my situation. Just wondering if anyone here uses it and what your impressions were from it? Any noticeable differences in the engine smoothness or anything at all?

Isn't the factory stuff 5w30?

I'm sticking to Mobil1. There will be others, including vendors, that like whatever they sell best.

the left number i think represents cold start so the 30 is still in the specs. i just got my x and will be doing my first oil change at 1k and im pretty sure im going to go with sso. let me know how you like it..

you are correct, the left number means cold temp W=weather, with that being said 0W30 can be used in any weather from sub cold temps to very hot Arizona temps.

OP, you made a great choice of oil.

Yeah, i'm in Md and although once in a while it will get to 0 degrees... that's very rare... the coldest i've had it get the last few years is maybe 10-20.

I'm sure Amsoil is great. I tried 10w30Redline last oil change, and my car has never run this well. No more valve train noise, smooth as silk. I'm sold.

Ever since mobil 1 switched there blending I will stay with amsoil. I always enjoy a oil that stays good for 5000 miles and still smells good when it comes out. Oil analysis always seem to favor amsoil as well. Yes its pricey, but it is your engine.

was it the red line or that purple stuff that people said broke down really fast or had some sort of huge issue that people were breaking parts with or something? I don't remember exactly... it was a thread from quite a while ago.

No not Royal Purple. Redline Oil purchased at a Car Shop store (carshopinc.com). You will definitely notice a difference!

Caveat: The store owner said the motor should have 10k miles, to run Redline oil, something about the seals.
