Exhaust oils blacking out my WW trunk

I have a new MXP Exhaust. Does anyone else experience the oils that come out of your exhaust all over your trunk? I did not have this with the stock exhaust? Curious if I have a problem or?

If you mean soot coming out of your exhaust from the super rich mixture then yes I have that same problem.

Most everyone has this problem. Even if you are tuned, when you go WOT there is so much exhaust coming out it is bound to happen.

Thanks. I have a Cosworth drop in and the WORKS mail in tune. Super impressed with both...The amount of soot is over the top. Maybe I need to get re-tuned and see if I'm running too rich?

Do you accelerate hard from lights much?

I'm dyno tuned and my friends still say they can see the black smoke (just lots of burned fuel) coming out the abck when I get on it. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Good to hear. I was a bit nervous, as it was not like this with the stock exhaust. I thought maybe the MXP exhaust had an issue. I've been very happy with the power increase with the mod's I've done, but was looking for really solid reliability.

Get a decent clay bar kit, some elbow grease and get to work, Stay on top of it and it won't stain, just a PITA!

Sounds like a nice safe ride to me.

Thanks for the input...I don't want a clear bra on my trunk? It's already staining, as the Mitsubishi EVO paint is terrible.

This has been a problem for me since I bought the car, white evos have some real issues with modified exhausts. I was able to find a wax that removes that stuff from the trunk. I just used it again this weekend' this thing will bring back the color and dissolve all that soot from the trunk. The product is called simply z and I got it at the NY autoshow. This stuff is amazing, I used it to clean my wheels too and it does a better job than those wheel products I was using. PM me if you need a link to get this.

Anyone have a picture of what's happening? I have a WW X with an aftermarket exhaust, but haven't really noticed this at all. The back of the car gets pretty dirty, as most vertical rear surfaces do, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Is it just around the tips, or all over?

It's more on the white part of the rear bumper and all of the trunk.

Thanks for the wax advice. The soot is actually staying on after washes, so I definitely need a clay or wax that removes it. It's bad and Mitsu paint is TERRIBLE.

I had tried a claybar and I had no success. I still have that junk in my house that purple wax though works wonders. And the stains will stay on after all the car washes, but it will come out with this wax. This thing will even clean metals, makes pennies look new.
