That was pretty cool, but no disrespect: it was a little anticlimactic.
They made it look like it was an all-out prepped car (full cage, guys wrenching all over it, roof air intake, rally driver name on the rear window).
In the end, the car didn't seem particularly modified - aftermarket exhaust, of course, but it sounded like stock engine, etc. with near-stock power.
On top of that, the suspension setup was definitely not setup for off-road/rally - the car was pitching like crazy over even those small undulations.
And all of that and no anti-lag?!?! C'mon!

Well said, I was waiting for him to break the 30 mph barrier and then the video was over and im left with a 1/4 chubOriginally Posted by wild01ride

I can't imagine what kind of fabrication and whatnot it would take to graft some kind of diesel engine into the X (and mate up to the stock drivetrain).
Besides, it didn't sound anything like any diesel that I've heard.
Not hatin', just sayin'...
EDIT: I re-watched the video and take back my statement. (I still can't believe the investment involved)
At about 0:28 you can clearly see that it is not a 4B11 under the hood. The valve cover is clearly a different shape and the oil dipstick is on the firewall side of the engine near the passenger side. There are also some other peculiarities that don't match up at all to the 4B11. As a matter of fact, it looks a lot like a 4G63 - I don't know what relevance that would have to biodiesel??
Nevertheless, I can't imagine what time and effort (and to what end?!) it would've taken to make a one-off biodiesel Evo (which looks as if it's intended for competition...and to compete in what?)

Anyone want to explain to me how you convert a gasoline engine to run on Biodiesel? 'Cause I am all ears.

i was 3 weeks ago in EU, and they have some bio fuel you can put in the gas engine.Originally Posted by Erik@MIL.SPEC

I never did but many people use it, i have no idea though how it works.
I had too short time and lack of interest to look into it more.

They are advertising B20 on the side of that vehicle, which AFAIK, can't go in a gasoline engine. It's 20% biodiesel and 80% diesel #2.Originally Posted by Robevo RS

Oh - I agree!
As far as I know, there is no plausible way to "convert" a Multi-Point Fuel Injected engine to a DI Compression Ignition Engine.
The 4G63 thing - I'm just saying that the color of the valve cover matches, the location and style of the oil cap is the same, etc., etc.
I guess one factor that would hint to the fact that it may not be a diesel in the car is the fact that it looks like it has coils (like 4G63) down the center of the valve cover. I'm no diesel expert, but I'm pretty sure that diesel glow plugs are a significantly different setup than coil-on-plug ignition!
Nevertheless, why would anyone even bother to adapt a 4G63 to an X?
The amount of work that would take versus working with the 4B11 is just asinine!

I can't believe that someone compares it to the Gymkhana...
Unless as a joke.
But the most amazing thing is that so many of you picked up the saying on the car (biodiesel) and EVEN thought the car was converted in any way!
SHOCKING.
