Couple quickies

Picked up my new PB 2010 MR this week 9 miles on the clock, traded in my '03 VIII. Couple things i noticed about the car that the dealer and my searching the forums and interwebs cannot answer.

1. The R/H side hood exhaust is covered from the inside. That supposed to be or is it something to compensate for the cold as ***** weather up here near Ft Drum, NY.

2. The maintenance display show that i have a service due in 3800 miles/ two months. There is only 9 miles on the clock and the dealer is lost. Break-in oil change i missed in the manual? Wrong factory preset?

3. The launch control.....2010 has it or no? Been searching the forums and most of it sounds like hearsay. I don't feel like giving it a go and roaching my tranny.

4. Oh! why the f does EvoM take 5 minutes a page to load, on just my computer out of the three in the house?! I mean really, just one of of them. Don't really need an answer for that one just venting.

Thanks

As far as the oil change is concerned. Get the first one at around 1000miles then every 3000miles after that. Mobil 1 ONLY!! Unfortunatly mine is an 08 so I am not able to confidently answer your 2010 specific questions. But anyway congrats on the car and get some snow tires if your up at Drum. The stockers are a hazard in the snow and ice.

1- Youll notice that both exhaust tips will get fairly covered with black exhaust soot. I know both sides of mine do. I wouldnt worry too much about that

2- I ignore that maintenace display reminder. IMO, oil changes should be done way before what they recommend anyway. I keep a log of everything thats done with my car and keep it all written down in there. Turbo cars need the oil to stay a good viscosity for the turbo bearings and seals..... 3000 miles / synthetic

3 - I dont see why the 10' wouldnt have LC. I would give it a shot and see, then let us know. If it doesnt have it, youll be able to tell by the way it will launch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5S5D6...rom=PL&index=9

4 - Yea this forum is slow..... compared to many others.

1. My inside one vent is covered as well, but I have an 08 GSR. I'll shoot a guess and say it has something to do with pushing air into the air intake which is right underneath it?

1. They've all been molded like this since day 1. Not sure why. The drivers side is to let the intake draw in air. I presume the passenger side is really just there for symmetry/appearance

2. Your oil change interval is probably set for 3800 miles/3 months. You can change this interval setting quite easily. There's instructions around here, search for them. At the end of the day, this is just a dummy interval/timer anyway for all idiots. Change your oil at whatever interval you desire. Use your own discretion. I turned my idiot timer/reminder/interval off.

3. I imagine it does, but you don't need to actually launch the car to test. When your stopped, turn your ASC all the way off (hold the button for 5 sec or so till it gets real good and angry with the notifications). Now find your rev limiter. Is it set at 5500? If so, you've got launch control.

4. Do some browser maintenance

Launch control:

1. Stop
2. Put tranny in S-Sport mode
3. Turn off ASC by pressing button once
4. Press brake pedal with left foot
5. floor accelerator with right foot
6. release brake to launch

^ Good call, I missed the MR part. I was just assuming a GSR.
