With the new '10 STI Special Ed. coming to the states, do you think
will answer by bringing the RS over? And not just an RS with weight savings, but with performance enhancing bits as well.... Just to keep up with the competition.
Oh, btw, I hear the Special Ed. is actually CHEAPER than the "base" STI.
For reference, here's Subaru's intro to the Special Ed. that most of you have seen, I'm sure: http://www.subaru.com/vehicles/impre...ise/index.html
JP also has a R205 with upgraded handling, turbo, ECU, and exhaust, to boost power and overall performance.

I don't understand the obsession with 6 gears to be honest. The difference between the 5 spd evo IX and 6 speed IX MR is like 200rpm at highway cruising speeds IIRC. IMO there is nothing wrong with a 5 speed transmission, as long as it is able to handle the power the car makes.
I really hope they bring the RS back, but I'm just not sure that will happen.
Also, the STi special edition is one of those good ideas that was executed poorly.
I heard the wheels weigh like 25 lbs a piece, and they ditched the HID's and other creature comforts that come standard on the STi that many people like, and will probably end up charging more for it.
it would be a smart move, if the sti ever sells.
reminds me of the mugen civic si..

devils advocate of this is that you have to shift again, losing time when racing. many could argue a properly-ratio'd 5 speed is the way to go. high-speed racers argue the first point in favor of 6 gears.
I couldn't get your link to work, but if Subaru is bringing an actual Spec C STi to the states this is the first I heard of it.
For 2010 subie is bringing over a "Special Edition" with Spec C parts but nowhere near the performance, I'm nitpicking the details but those are two vastly different STi's.

OK, this is how rumors start. The Spec C is NOT coming stateside.
What they are doing the very limited run of an STI special edition.
Details straight from NASIOC:
Specs: * JDM STI spec-C suspension (+$300)
* Unique 18" wheels
* Delete auto climate
* Delete HID headlights
* Delete mirror turn signals
* Delete 6cd --> replace w/ 1CD
Price:
$32,995 ($2000 less than STI)
Limited production of 200 units. (SOA can order more if we want.)
* Only available in Aspen White and Obsidian Black Pearl
* March dealer availability
A de-featured car with Spec C suspension is not a Spec C, which is why they aren't calling it a Spec C. It will has the USA 2.5 liter neutered engine. A Spec C should have a fire breathing rev happy EJ207.
Mitsu is not going to respond to this paltry 200 unit limited run with a USA RS. The 2008s sold so few, the USA didn't even get a 2009. It took heavily discounted pricing and 0% financing to finally get almost all of them out, and there are STILL some 2008s at dealerships.
Not to mention, RS pricing would interfere with their Ralliart cost structure.

Is there a fuse for our ABS system we can just remove?
I do that constantly in my 2002 WRX, more because the Subaru ABS system is just total **** in the snow, but the same principle would apply.

edited first post to reflect that its NOT a SPEC-C, just the handling bits (thanks Noize) and for some reason my first link to the Subie site wasn't correct. FIXED.
Either way, its gets improved suspension, brakes, underbody panels, and other things over stock form. Plus, its cheaper....
