Just sounds like the clutch is slipping. That's what my car sounded like when the stock clutch peaced out at the track.

That car still launched pretty hard if the clutch was slipping. I am not sure what it is but something was going on.

I'm guessing it was probably not his first launch like that...

Drivetrain = Ouch!

BTW was that a 335 or 328? Because a 335 doing 14.4 on the quarter mile is slow like hell.

Not a bad launch, the rest sucked though.

Sounds like the rev limiter was quite a bit higher than 5500...

I have no experience with drag racing but it sounded like he was hitting the rev limiter before he could change gears. That'll make you slow but it's nothing that more practice can't fix.

If the tranny broke, he wouldn't have made it the rest of the way down the track.

Sounds like he glazed the clutch disc and it's not holding anymore, hence hitting the rev limiter each gear since it wasn't grabbing anymore.

even with a "broken" tranny, he still smoked the bmw. bmw= teh suck! really though, i have to agree with the above statements and say that clutch is toast. unless theres evidence to prove otherwise.

Another good reason why I wouldn't buy a used evo.

The dude prop threw a bunch of bolt ons on and didn't get a tune. Which is typical of someone who doesn't know what they are doing.

His description for the vid was "Broke the transmission". If he knows anything about cars, a slipping clutch is far from a "broken" transmission.... Right? lol

It was either a glazed fly wheel or he missed a gear, it sounded like he was in between gears trying to find the next cog. It was a fast launch but anyone who rev bounces and dumps the clutch can accomplish that. I don't drag race and never have, I could never afford to replace parts on a vehicle who's soul intentions were built on handling and not on drag strips.
