TWM Short Throw + TWM Big fat knob + Redline MTF

All I have to say is OMFGING WHY DIDN'T I DO THIS EARLIER?

My shifting is better than the bmw z4 i test drove a few weeks ago.. My grinding and notching all gone... I can upshift to 3rd and 5th soo easily its unbelievable..

Downshifting is 9 times more fun along with rev matching now that the gears snap into place..

When I did the install, guys, please do not waste your time hammering with a screw driver to remove the clips.. GET A DREMEL.. If you do not know what I am talking about, look at the installation manual and it says its optional but recommended.. They should make it a needed tool instead.. Such a PITA to remove those clips.. I ended up paying my neighbor 5 bucks which was supposed to be for my 5 dollar footlong to drive me to the home depot to just buy a dremel..

My drain plug for the tranny fluid had like a bazzilian metal shavings stuck to it and some goopy buggers..

I will post up pictures later.. but MAN this feels good..

Cheers TWM.. I officially love you.. No homo

Flat head screw driver/rubber mallet worked fine for me. Although when I was getting the small one off it shot off and hit me in the face

How much more "weight" is in their weighted shift knobs? Really make a difference?

Enough already. Already have a weighted shift knob..
Just ordered TWM Short Shifter + bushings and will swap out transmission fluid at the same time.
Jumping on the bandwagon FTW.

Would AMSOIL MTG 75w90 work too with the same setup?

The reason I did not go with the amsoil is because it seems to be too thick..

Stock calls for 75w-80.. Amsoils normal operating viscosity is 90..

Redline is 70w-80. It starts thinner and does not grind in the cold morning.

The weighted knob is like 600 gramsssss. I swear if you throw this at someones head, they will die.. Made a huge huge difference in the shifting.. Gears just drop into place.. Especially 4-5.. I no longer have to worry about going into 3rd by accident. It is like shifting from 2nd to 3rd.. Same sweep of motion.

Cheers

Totally agree. I bought my TWM SS, knob, and bushings about 8 months ago or something like that and it is awesome. I will be getting some Redline fluid soon too. This makes the car shift SO smooth.

Yes, the shift knob made a hella difference. Very heavy. And lol at the throw it at someone's head comment.

And to anyone that is wondering, Yes the bushings make a big difference too. We installed my short throw, drove it a second, and then installed the bushings and they make a significant improvement.

You'll be happy with the shifter upgrade along with better transmission fluid. It's the way this type of car should come from the factory!

Same here, but I just stomached it and its scheduled to arrive on the 8th.

This is my first Mod by choice. First mods FTW

Also ordered the EvoScan GPS navigator. I think my Mod fever has started!! 'bout time! been 2 years since I bough the bloody car!

I already changed out my rotors, pads and bought a summer set of wheels+tires, but they were purchased more out of necessity than choice.

I just installed my SS last night along with the base bushing and a new shift knob. The shifting is awesome now. It's a lot smoother and the notchyness I had going into 2nd and 3rd is all but gone. Definitely a great mod. I can't wait to change my tranny fluid soon. to TWM!
