Wife Wants a Wicked White

We stopped by our local Mitsubishi dealership tonight to check out a 2010 MR Touring for my wife. She's into cars and wants an EVO for her next. I've driven an VIII on several occassions and know what to expect but she has not. The dealership wouldnt allow a test drive of any kind, even after they knew how serious we were. Is the Lancer X Ralliart at all comparable as far as ride, road noise, handling?

Any advice for finding an X MR (she needs auto) in NE Ohio for her to drive? She's had plenty of experience with the BMW 335i but I want her to know the differences with the way this car rides before the purchase. Thanks!

All X MR are auto, and as power/handling wise the EVO X is better than ralliart. Dont get me wrong ralliart can do some handling also but the EVO X is better

i test drove both and the X blows it away. I went to actually purchase the ralliart for the wife and they had an X MR sitting there so i asked to drive it, it put the ralliart to shame so i didnt buy it... IMO u dont need to test drive it, ur gonna love it regardless... however, im ending up getting her a used WW 9 haha

She will whine the plastic rattle and has horrible gas mileage... big difference coming from a 335i to a Mitsu...

I actually went through the exact same thing. Checked out the 335, and allready had a GSR X so I knew what the car caould do. To me, the MR touring that I decided on is a joy to drive. The transmition did it for me. Got the car at So cal mitsu for 36999 and that was like 6 grand cheaper than 335, and Mitsu gave me like 3 grand more for my X, so that made the decision easier for me. There is no "cheap plastic rattle in my X"

Make sure you're getting a X MR and not a Ralliart

Of course the MR will be superior to the Ralliart, everyone in the forums knows that. But the Ralliart is also $14K(?) cheaper than an MR Touring. It has the Evo's engine (smaller turbo), a milder version of MR's SST (no s-sport mode, taller 5/6 gears), Evo-IX AWD system, and many other shared components. You can also get the sportback version, which has plenty of cargo space once you flop down the backseats. I think the Ralliart is a great buy if your wife is just looking for a fun daily driver, it is also very mod friendly (although not in the same class as the Evo).

Test drove the Ralliart Sportback myself last December, and I was VERY impressed (X GSR owner for a year now).

You just go into that dealer and tell them you'll buy from another dealership if they won't let you test drive it. They'll budge. Hell, just lie to them and tell them you called another dealership and they said it'd be no problem to test drive it. Make them think they'll lose the sale.

if she cares for performance over some rattles and more wind noise then she will love the X over the 335.

What a sh!tty stealership, they should of let her drive the freakin car. What if you buy without a test drive and she doesnt like how it handles. Then what?

Your wife has good taste in cars and I would go to a different stealership and test drive it.

Yeah, you should definitely be able to test drive the car before dropping that kind of money. I would just go to another dealership.

Thanks for the compements guys- she definitely wants the MR Touring.. I couldn't fool her with a Ralliart (already tried).

We called a few other dealerships in the area telling them we were ready to buy, but they all seem to be sticking to their guns. We'll see how desparate they get- all it'll take is a mile or two for her to be sure it's what she wants. I'm very surprised they won't allow a serious buyer of a car this caliber to give it a mile or two.

I wasn't allowed to drive an X when I rolled in when I had my VIII.
Mitsu people are a bunch of retards, its a sub 40k$ car. Give me a break, I've driven cars double in price without any hesitation

if it is that hard to get a test drive.. and your set on buying the MR-T you might as well just order one from sam at south coast mitsubishi...

The Evo X seats are low, the door sills are high and the steering cannot be adjusted for rake. Shorter people have a hard time driving it. The wife should test drive it.
