Bodyshop update

Some may remember back in February when i bought my new X and had it for 6days and was sideswiped by a box truck. I started the "wrecked" forum and bosted about how good this body shop was. So i spoke to soon and **** happens. DO NOT GO TO PACKY WEBB FORD IN WHEATON, IL. Jim the body shop manager is a big ******* one who is all bout getting the job done as quick as possible and not to worry about the repercussions. any how i brought the car there bc mad max mitsu in downers grove recommended them. turns out they had my car over 4 weeks tells me it looks great so on and so forth. Pick the car up and theres scratches where there shouldnt be, the two left doors and not aligned, the car has a pull to the left, there were scratches in the hood, inner doors and to top it off there was a dent in the driver side door on bottom innner. i bring it back last week for a additional 4 days for them to repaint again, theres again scratches where there shouldnt be and now more imperfections in the paint. To top it off they "fixed" my dent in the inner door by putting a ****ing STICKER over the dent!! tell me thats not crazy. anyways giving you guys a update

It is super tough to find a good body shop. I would recommend this, if you have good insurance, go through one of their recommend shops, like State Farm I think gives you a lifetime repair warranty, and they will help you settle things.

A couple of months ago, I had my car repaired, (older one) front suspension damage and some body parts, my car was deemed a total loss, but took the money and had it fixed anyway by a shop that has been around forever, I agreed on the price and said will you paint the hood in that price (it was a little scratched up) they said yes. I go to pick up the car, and no painted hood like he said he would do. Honestly, I typically go nuts and would of pursued it, but in this car is was an older car and decided to hold my temper. Moral to story in this day and age it is hard to find anyone to do good work on anything.

That's horrible. If you were in the midwest, you should have made a thread in the subforums asking for a good bodyshop instead of listening to a mitsu dealer. A&L in Palatine, IL is amazing. They do great work for a fair price, and the owners are very down to earth. They will do everything they can until you are perfectly satisfied.

Wow, that sounds crapy.

I gotta say though...I use packey webb ford in wheaton for my company's fleet vehicles when theres body damage, no complaints here.

We had some bad luck this year, two of our new vehicles were in separate accidents, packey webb did a great job. also, when i was picking up one of the vehicles i saw an Acura TL in the body repair area, they just painted it and it looked great.

good luck to you.

Man I feel your pain.... years ago when I was younger and dumber I had a similar situation. It ended with me beating the crap out a body shop guy in the front office, a helicopter flying him out and me with a lot of bills.

Pursue the matter until it's resolved to your satisfaction but don't let it consume you.

I remember when I got in my first accident I hassled them about getting my car,so they got it done quick and when they did , which was took like two weeks later for hitting a deer which messed up my front end and messing up the front wind shield. It came out like crap.I was 18 at the time and when ever I would car wash my car I see everything that was wrong and noticed that I made them rush it.At that time I didn't care cuz I needed a car,but after a year or so I always wished that I should have went back and made them fixed what ever I saw wrong. It's all a learning experience. If I were you what ever you see wrong you better let them know so it can be taken care of.

Body shop

I appreciate the A&L throw out i will contact them and see what they say. I have 2 family friends of "old generation" mechanic, machinist, body work. Packy webb sucks. If i take my car back this will be now the 4th time in a rental due to there unability to get things right the first time. I will show you the sticker as soon as things have calmed down a bit. Jim over at packy webb told me to get out of his shop and didnt give a care in the world if i came back seeing as the economy is as it is you would think protocol would be a bit different. too many things wrong with the car right now and very frustrating. whens the next mid west meet?? maybe i can show you guys the car and so forth

PLEASE,

Dont deal with them, get in touch with the appraiser IMMEDIATELY and have him meet you at the body shop to look over the car, that way you will have a witness to what you are talking about.

Hopefully, there were some supplements written and the shop has not been paid all of the monies yet. Dont pay them until the car is done right.

If possible take the car elsewhere to fix their crappy work and have them pay for it
