i totally agree!! wish i didnt have to sit in the evo for 20 minutes to charge my phone!! ahh well!

 

In my experience, most foreign cars seem to shut down the outlets when the key is off, and most american cars keep the 12v's hot all the time.

 

*facepalm*

They are protecting you from yourself.... and I thank them for it.

 

It would make to much sense for them to put a 12v outlet and the Ipod hook up in the center console.

Every Japanese car I've ever owned (Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi) has never had constant 12v power to the cigarette lighter. Several of the Fords I've had or my parents have had did have constant 12v for the outlets. My dad's F150 has 1 constant and 1 that shuts off when the car is off.
