Scheides' New Beater

Sup 4b11'ers! Mind if I join your party? In the wake of this: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...nd-my-vag.html

Last saturday I drove possibly the most beat up evo X I've seen to date. I walked away from it disgusted at how someone could be so careless with such a nice car. Then, the more I thought about it, the more I thought about what a great opportunity this thing could be to get an X for cheap and turn it into a mean machine with my own personal touches. Plus, from about 15 feet away, it looks nice and mean, just my style

When I first saw this thing from a distance, it made my heart flutter. Tien coilovers, dark-*** tint, some sort of exhaust...excellent combo! But the damage, OH, the damage...there's scratches on every fender and door, rock chips, dings, gouges, and curbed rims. It's gonna be a project, a long project, but for now I will have to just dub thee: BeaterX!

Looks alright eh? Now look closer:

Tien coilovers, sweet! Driving them through winter w/o washing, bad bad bad!

Has an MBC, and a custom UICP, FMIC, and exhaust made by Excessive Autosport in Sioux Falls.

Rear passenger qpanel:

The thing drives straight, has decent brakes, makes decent power, and all of the SSS package options: fastkey, rockford fosgate stereo w/ sub, HIDs, sat radio, and bigger spoiler (this probably won't stay long! ). If anyone does pro body work and wants to earn some brownie points, LMK!

Step one is gonna be to move the AWC control button from the steering wheel to center console, perrin rear sway bar, fix the interior, and get some summer rubber on this thing; it's got some michi pilot wintersport's on it I'd like to hang onto for a while.

Yikes! At least we know you'll take care of her from here on out. Best of luck, and sorry to hear about your car.

I cant believe there is so much rust on this car, it looks worse than some of the 03 Evos. Who ever had it before you didnt know how to take care of it.

Scheides is a good addition to the 4b11 circle, he is a very helpful member. He helps Tephra and other's with all sorts of testing, well he did with the 8/9's.

Good pick up, looking forward to helping you out with what i can man!

Yes, insurance totaled out my 05 but it was paid in full about a year ago (thanks dave ramsey!). I took the insurance money (did the buy-back option) and dropped about $8k in savings $$ to cover the difference, tax, title, plates, registration, etc. I promised my mom I'd pay cash for my next car, and I've done her proud This beater is 100% mine! Shook hands with the dealer for $24,300 before extras, seems to be the cheapest X I've ever heard of. 21k on the clock.

I kept the chassis for the 05 and have literally taken *everything* off of the car except the brakes, bottom-end, trans, and interior. A buddy is coming today to pick it up, so if there's anything you want off of it, PM TalonFiero on here.

If you're familiar with the car and its mods and are interested in some of the parts, PM me. Everything is for sale, but I'm keeping it local until I get it all inventoried and pics taken.

Nothing wrong with a 20 footer as a project! Good job getting all the debts paid and paying cash for the X! A lot of people would do good to follow your lead on that. I look forward to seeing you make progress and development work with the X like you did with the VIII's and IX's.

two weeks was plenty of time w/o a fun car. The funny thing is I competed in an autoX (in a buddy's evo8 I helped fix up) and had a nice A4 to drive in the meantime, but I just missed the rawness of the evo, nothing can keep me down!

HFS-1 is gettng sold, I'll put a -3 in it sooner or later I'm sure.

Got any beta roms that need testing? I'm borrowing a 2.0 cable from a buddy...
