EDIT:
Here is an update in case you don't want to read 18 pages of repetition....
-I called Dave Buschur and spoke with him on the 16th and cleared things up
-Lots of communication issues along the way
-Buschur Racing is a stand up shop and took care of the originial issue (before this was posted) far beyond any one's expectations
-The car is waiting on parts to arrive from the dealership
Original Post:
So last December I installed a Spec Twin Disc in my car and never would have thought the outcomes would be anything near this....
About a week after some friends and I finished the clutch there was this terrible sound coming from my tranny so I figured that Big Valley is the closest place to me that would be able to fix the car without any issues considering their record passes with their Evo ... boy was I wrong! After I got there they quickly had the tranny out and found out that the flywheel bolts were backing out. After we clutch was returned from spec and waiting on some new flywheel bolts the car was put back together a day before Christmas Eve. When I picked it up I was happy that the clutch was even smoother then when we installed the clutch and I was completely happy as I started to drive down to Miami. I was out with my brother in law driving around back by the everglades "spiritedly" and when I was going from fourth to fifth the RPMS jumped way high as they did I caught it but not in enough time. Needless to say there was a cotter pin that was not installed that holds the side to side shifter cable on the tranny... this allowed my cable to pop off and with my 8500 redline (about where I shifted) when that cable came off the input to the tranny it centered and put the car in third.... and bent every valve
So, on christmas eve I dropped the car off at AWD motorsports and thought I should be fine having them take care of the car and getting it built without issue while I was on the deployment that I left for a week later.
We got the motor off to Buschur for the full treatment and it came back with a ROOKIE mistake... but no one caught it. I was told that even David Buschur himself built the motor (which I doubt). Well the pistons where put in backwards! The motor made power for the dyno and when it was being driven for my Dad to pick it up (since I was still out on a deployment) it gave. Mike said that when they pulled off from a light it started to sputter and just died. So I get an email from my Dad and he told me what happened. AWD took the car back to their shop to figure out what happened.
Well with the over-sized valves being bigger and making a further extension towards the piston, and my 11mm lift cams, because the pistons were backwards the valve reliefs in the pistons didn't allow for any room and my motor started tearing itself apart....
Four weeks later I am waiting on Buschur Racing to get all the parts to AWD Motorsports! The biggest problem is the fact that I am transferring to Norfolk on Wednesday and AWD still does not have ANY gaskets to assemble my motor. So now I get to buy a plane ticket and a rental car for who knows how long because my motor is still in pieces... all I get from Buschur is "oh well." I can't believe that I have invested nearly $13,000 and still couldn't have a working motor in almost 6 months...

Geez...that is terrible man...I know how you feel to some extent...if my new motor had a problem like this i would lose it.
So I assume buschur is sending you a new motor at a minimum? And hopefully paying for AWD to fix it?

Wow! Hopefully Buschur takes care of you and assists AWD in getting your car back on the road quickly and with minimal additional expense to yourself.
What did Big Valley have to say about the shifter cable coming loose?

The most they took care of me was replacing the valves and pistons they messed up. That is about it.... 4+ weeks to get a motor back

Why would you say that? I know Buschur is a vendor...but if they are taking care of this properly and paying for most if not all of it, there is nothing wrong with this thread.
People make mistakes, even the best builders/tuners aren't perfect, they are still human.
OP, curious, how many dyno runs did your car make? I mean it made great power on the dyno...so did it just crap out right when it went to the street or what?
This is exactly why I chose one shop to build my motor and tune it, so no blame game with other shops in case something like this happened, really sucks man.

Im just going to chime in a few facts.. I dont really want to be in the middle of this even though we did the installation.. a few facts..
The 1st shop to blow up the car paid not 1.00.. They did not get a thread written about them so i feel this thread was made out of frustration from the 1st shop..
Buschur Racing who made a mistake on the piston installation is 100% standing behind the work.. They have even paid us Labor to do the job over again which I did not ask for but was demanded i take it.. Buschur has covered the following..
Newly built ported head
New Block and internals
Spark plugs
Oil cooler
Oil pump
Gasket kit
shipping both ways of all items
labor for repair
Id say this is a remarkable way to handle the situation by Buschur.. it shows he truly does stand behind his work.. Sure he made a " HUMAN ERROR " but he is covering EVERYTHING to make sure this customer gets all 12k worth of what he paid for..
We are retuning it free with 2000cc injectors which we would have charged a complete tune over again..
Id say Buschur shouldnt be categorized with the 1st shop you had an issue with.. hes standing behind his work isnt he??

There is no reason to delete this.. As long as its factual info.. We and Buschur stand behind everything we do.. An issue came up, we are standing behind it for every single 1.00 of the repair..

Honestly I know it sucks having your car down and issues one after the other...but be happy that you had anything replaced at all. Alot of people have gotten screwed like this before and they didn't get anything in return, so be happy they're at least trying to fix their mistakes...some shops are not this reliable.
