painting help

I painted me emblems blue and it looked great till i washed the car. They both peeled off a bit so i thought if i taped off the area and re did it, it would turn out good again. (Only reason i taped is because the stuff i used to put them back i dunno how to get off.) so i tape the front and it comes out ok but when i remove the tape pain spray got on to the the front bumper (the black part). Is there anything i can use to tape it off or should i just wait till i get innercooler and try black spraying it? Or if someone has a better idea please tell me because i want to clean this up soon as possible.

Are you asking how to get the black paint off your bumper?

Off what, the bumper? I'd first try a solvent like 3M Adhesive Remover, then an aggressive clay - 3M, Meguiars Red, Clay Magic Red. You may need to polish the paint after using clay this harsh. Good luck.

Can you please explain what's going on in a manner that's easily understood? Perhaps a pic?

I completely misunderstood the issue. At this point, don't do anything I suggested above, as I have no experience with removing paint from somewhat porous plastic. If I were you, I'd post the same pic here, as Autopia.org is moving to a new server. You'll get some qualified help. Good luck.

hmm.. try a wax and grease remover like 900 from RM, let it soak into the textured plastic and scrub with a fine brush and wipe it off. Or if your willing to attempt this.. try solvent thinner, but don't let it soak.. just wipe and brush and wash it off immidiatly. it will take off the blue residue, BUT will turn ur plastic dull color, if this is the route ur gonna attempt.. i suggest removing ur bumper, sand with scotch brite.. clean it off and paint with textured flat black. Ofcourse you will hafta mask the other areas of the bumper you wish not to be black. As for the emblem, since it does a chrome finish, and they love to peel anything you spray on it, you would really have to sand it, suggest 320 grit.. prime it, then sand and paint. Just my take. haha good luck

might as well just take off the emblem and work on it by itself in a well ventilated area away from your car. and then, work away with the spraying. sand, prime, sand, paint, sand, paint, clear, sand, clear lol....and then you're good

Just mask it off really well, use some good etching primer and paint that sucker. Just remember that the more you slack off on your prep work, the worse your job turns out.
