Define an "early 08" X?

I've seen quite a few references to issues with "early 08's" but haven't found any definition. I have an 08 X that I bought new in April 09 that was built in Dec 07. Would that be early?

I don't think there is rhyme or reason to early 08. My Octane Blue X was built 11/07, my PB X is 4/08. I had lotsa transmission grind issues in my blue car, but test drove a few different ones to find the one that had the best shift quality.

Honestly, I think all 08s are the same based on the two I've owned, one really early and one really late. I think they were only in production around 6 months.

Thanks for the info - I had suspected 12/07 was a fairly "early" but was surprised that I couldn't find data on the production run length. Thanks for buying two so I would know!

Mine was built 1/08 and I have yet to have an issue (except with paint quality).

I haven't had any issues out of the ordinary either. Definitely paint, factory tune, and notchy transmission, but aftermarket fixed two out of three pretty quickly. I can live with using a lot of touch up paint - its a driver not a show car...and I love driving it.

How do you tell when your car was made? Is it on the car somewhere?

^On the drivers side ,on the B-pillar, there's s metal plate that has the build date on it. Mine is 2/08. Besides my seats and a few paint chips, it's been all gravy knock on wood.

Mines a 11/07 and I've never had a serious problem. I think most GSR's have the same notchy gears and such. Aftermarket parts fix those problems in a hurry.

I did underhood shifter bushings, shifter base bushings, TWM short shifter, and trans fluid change. I think the short shifter made the biggest difference of them all, but it is definitely much better.

I have a TWM with base bushings and an A6 Leopard Knob. It has not made ANY difference to me whatsoever. I'm beginning to think everyone else was just justifying their purchase or they already had other supporting mods like tranny fluid and a front roll stop etc. I.m thinking I should get a front roll stop.
