How smooth is the shipping process? I would need it shipped from south coast to NC.

I am sure sam can get me in a good car, but I don't want it to be all scratched up by the time it gets to me.

also does shipping give you a guaranteed arrival date?

Not very.. and no, lol.

Mine sat around for a while at SCM before Sam had it sent to the shipper, and then it sat around at the shipper for an even longer time before it headed across the US. About a month total from the time I provided proof of registration to the day I picked it up at the shipping facility. So figure at least a month or more total from the time you start the paperwork to the time you get your car.

The shipper does provide an arrival date.. but the date will change.

Still though.. my car arrived in perfect shape, and the money I saved was definitely worth the additional wait and aggravation, lol.

Smash!

I'm sure it's possible that you could get it by Sept 20th.. but if you literally need to have it delivered that specific day, and not sooner or later.. well, that would be like 1 in a million, lol.

Call Sam at SCM and ask him if he can make it happen.. i'd call ASAP though!

EDIT: Also check out DAS's website (LINK) for an estimate and options.. they have "guaranteed transit time" for $150 extra (though if they miss the guaranteed date, they'll only refund the $150 - which is kinda stupid) and "expedited service" for $250 extra (reduces transit time by ~30%). I didn't have any options, and my delivery was exactly 18 days from the time they received the vehicle.. though there was an issue with payment, which probably accounted for nearly a week of that time.

i think everyone's overreacting - even if the car had 100 miles on it, it's not like it's been junked up. when i test drive a car and the dealer is in the passenger seat, i don't drive the car like a maniac.

a positive thing out of buying a car with 100 miles on it is that you know someone drove it and they would have caught any issues with it then. when you buy a car with 5 miles on it, there might be a problem from the factory that you get to discover first .

i agree with this. one autox or one night of showing your buddy what it can do will be worse than what anybody did in those 47 miles. unlesss the dealer and salespeople are totals **** and went out and lauched it for 47 miles or if there is an awesome rally jump right outside the lot, i wouldn't worry about it.

my car was test driven before me and the sales person that sold it to me told the dude got in and was immediately doing 100mph on a residential street and he had to kick him out. the sales guy drove it back not knowing how to drive stick and said he stalled the hell out of it. i switched clutches to twin disc recently and my stock clutch has like 50% life on it at 30000 miles and 360+ whp.

just sayin.

Step 1 - see what SouthCoast Mitsubishi can you get 'the' car you want for shipped.
Step 2 - find local dealer to price match.
Step 3- If step 2 fails, buy car from SouthCoast.

yea I would suggest buy a less than 10 mile evo. U never know and you dont want to say "I should've", I got my X with 7 miles at SCM with all the plastic in it. Thats how I know that it hasn't been test driven. I wouldn't wanna buy a new car with some miles in it. I learned my lesson with my old Rx-8. Bought it new with 100 something miles. Thinking of it that car was probably a demo car. I was only 19y/0 at the time, I didn't know better. Don't make that same mistake I did especially on an EVO. You want to pop that cherry yourself as what SAM "SMASH" told me while I was buying my new EVO.

My car had 70 miles on it. But then I only paid 27K new. So well worth the miles to me.

I dont see the big issue with buying a car with 47 miles or even 90 miles on it. if a 35k+ car cant take 50 test miles it will never last with me driving it.

I know im the new guy here buy give me a break. you all ***** when a dealer wont let you test drive without a deposit but wont buy a car with a few test miles on it. this car is not made out of glass and for someone to buy a car from cali when he lives in NC is not necessary either.

and just so you know , most every manufactrus engine department runs every engine to its max after it is assemled to make sure it was built right. so if you think your car with 3 miles on it was never redlined your wrong.

Sorry if im seem a little harsh but this "break-in" and "my new car has 50 miles on it" thing is a crock of crap. New cars need to be run in hard. not tracked but not babied. I

I Will be getting a evo or STi soon and i will not be following the book for run it.

OP. drive the car and if it seems sound buy it. if you do not and its still for sale when i buy ill take it at that price

I don't see what the problem is. I bought my Ralliart with 206 miles on it. I haven't had any issues with it.

My car was on my dealership's lot for several months prior to me buying it. I had the wasp nest in my pass mirror to prove it.

If the car drove fine, then it will more than likely be fine even though it has 47 miles on it.

Thanks for your input but i think you missed the point.

first off I am in Japan so I can not test drive to see if it was brutalized in those test drive miles. In the OP i said "so I am finally close enough to my return to the states..."

Second, I am not taking a lien on this car. I am paying hard earned re-enlistment (im a Marine) cash on it. Before anyone says "you are dumb to pay cash when there is 0% apr right now bla bla bla" I have about 100k saved between my wife and I, so it is not an issue. I don't want reoccurring bills other than house, and phone. Point is, if i am paying hard earned CASH it will be only my a$$ groves in the seat.

You are right though it could be perfectly fine, but why chance it. I have got him down to only $500 difference between one with 47 and one with 6. I will pay the extra 500 for the one with 6.

To this poster and all others. Thanks for your input. Most of you feel the same way I do.
