I say just do the front bumper skip the headlights and hood. Clearbra the rear lower corner of the rear doors.

you're mad to skip headlights and hood. those are the next easiest things to chip paint off of, aside from the bumper. when the headlight chips, it's even more of a pain to fix.

and on par with those areas are the rear doors.

make sure you get the porsche flare in the rear. the part just in front of the rear wheel has the most damage from what i've even seen on my GTS when i had it. i'll do the 3m clear bra there for sure

Doesn't the 2010 side skirts are even more the aero kit skirts take care of that?

it helps, but doesn't stop it 100%. i still see a chip that flies to that area once every few car washes.

Got him down to $1000.00 for full front coverage. Sound good? Or go with standard for 600 and have hood lines?

I recently had a clear bra put on my WW X and honestly the hood is overkill. As has been stated before, most of the damage from rocks and debris will be to the front bumper (and side skirts).

Also, it is a common misconception that 3m is the best material. They were the initial pioneers of the technology but haven't made any significant changes to their product over the past 4+ years. Nano Fusion provides a product that is more user friendly, more clarity, softer finish (feels more like factory paint), and has a lifetime warranty against non-wear defects. Just don't clean/wax it with any petroleum based product; over time the film will absorb the petroleum byproducts and yellow.

If you are dead set on having your hood covered, definitely do the entire area. The line will be very very noticeable and will look horrible. Not only will you see the physical line, but WW looks just a tiny shade different under the bra so there will be a distinct change in color at a very obvious part of your car.

For price reference, I had the front bumper and side skirts covered for about $600.

.
i have zero experience with evoX's but i've owned several evo 8's and 9's since 2003. two of my evos got hit on the hood front tip so unless im ridiculously unlucky, it definetly happens. my first evo took a hit and made a nasty rock chip there. happened again on my 2nd evo but i was prepared with clearbra. damage was a slight nick to the clearbra only (paint was good).

I'd think that is less likely to happen on a X because the front is much more square. The top part of the front facia is nearly parallel to the front lip of the hood.

I suppose it could happen though.

I have a 3M bra on my DD (40k miles) and it should be noted that, as you eluded to, a clear bra is not a 100% guarantee against all damage. If you get hit with a big enough rock or a a fast enough piece of debris, the bra can be penetrated. (yes I said penetrated )

You don't need the entire hood, beside you will end up with possible distortion near all the intakes. Just do the front, 600 is cheap. You are getting front fenders, side mirrors and head lights. I just paid 860 for the same thing. xpel

Trigger-pulled...so I'm probably late:

I have a WW evo like you, and I didn't get full. First, I would say that nobody notices that I have the clearbra unless they look very close. Maybe that'll change as the bra yellows...but so far it looks pristine (it's 5 months old).

Another person commented that the bra collects dirt on that line: This is true. So far, the dirt has washed-away every cleaning tho...leaving me with no visible lines...but maybe that will also change over time.

In all, I've had a very positive experience with the half-clearbra that I did, and I don;t think I'd do full if I could do it over again. I also got it for a steal tho...I negotiated it when I was buying the car, and got it for like $200, which was their cost.

Seems like you've made your choice, I voted for the half hood option, that is what I have had done to my X, along with half fenders, full front bumpers including aero, headlights, trunk area on rear bumper and door handle cups - no regrets.
