HIDextra

My car: 2008 GSR Evo X SSS

Installed the 3k fog light H11 kit and i am getting flicker. I checked all connections and tried to pull the fuse for DRL to get it to stop. No Luck. I emailed HIDextra and they told me i need a relay. I have read that we do NOT need a relay. This leads me to believe that the person that emailed me is just giving a quick and easy answer and i really do not want to remove my bumper again and again. Can someone confirm this or do you think the bulbs/ballast are bad?
Also please feel free to let me know what kit you are running (H11)

Thanks,

It's true that you won't need a relay, but some kits out there are just plain cheaply made! I had a kit before that used a bigger and older ballast and it was fine at first. Shortly after, only the passenger side would turn on. Went back to get a relay kit installed and it fixed it for a bit and then it happened again.

I'm now running the DDM tuning slim digital ballast and it's been perfect without the relay. The bulbs are also running a lot cooler and properly seal up. Great choice on 3000k. Love my 3000k's.

I hear good things about DDM tuning but never gone that route (usually went ebay). DDM tuning is really cheap, too; that is where I'll go for my fogs.

I've used many DDM kits as well as turned many of my friends who have used DDM kits on to them and they are currently running them. For the price and quality you definitely can't beat them. All my friends and I have only experienced one bad ballast so far for everyone. I bought new headlight bulbs in different Kelvin temps and a 3k HID kit as well for the fogs but haven't had a chance to install them yet. However I doubt they will experience what you are experiencing. Get their kit, on sale now for $35 plus shipping. You won't regret it.

Do you need the dual in/out harness or error eliminator when ordering?

Thanks for the info!

I've been running DDM HIDs for a year and a half now, great product, especially for the price.

Got mine installed yesterday. 10k bulbs for headlights and 3k HID fogs. Looks great, easy install and slim ballast really helped to hide. Working perfectly.

^where are the pix? 10k headlights?! You realize you're losing lumens to a lower Kelvin rating. I suppose your fogs help plenty though. I got 8k once and it was getting too blue for me.

I haven't been able to take pics yet. Maybe tonight. Yeah I know they aren't as bright as 4300k but I don't think it's bad, it still is way better than halogens. The DDMs are a little off, the 8ks didn't seem blue at all and the 10ks (i bought both) have a blue hue to them, but I like the blue/yellow contrast. It definitely looks really good, I rolled up behind my VW friend and he said it looked pretty sick.

Okay finally took some pics, but my skillz at a camera suck so it doesn't look nearly as good as in person. The blue and the yellow really contrast to look bad ***

I'm happy with it. $35 for the HID fog kit, 12.50 for the 10k bulbs and like 10 in shipping. Not too bad for what you get. And the kits have a lifetime warranty. I found out about the company through the R6 forum and haven't looked back. I can't imagine the business they have because of word of mouth (or forum!).

You're right, those don't look too blue at all.
