Question Should I take high flow air filter for stock X SE, how good is it?

Hello guys! I've been looking around, but unfortunately did not see any high flow air filter for fully stock X reviews/feedbacks out there . Well, I did hear someone saying it should provide quicker boost response and increase fuel economy a bit! At this point, I'd like to keep my new X SE stock with just a HF filter... How good the outcome could be, good for prolonging engine life? which brand has better reviews/feedbacks?
Btw, If I do an ECU tune/flash later, should I still use the standart MAP built for a STOCK X since mine would only has an aftermarket filter? And which map is better?
I know I'm asking so many questions here at once, but any reply will be highly appreciate!!

Thanks,

AFE Dryflo drop-in air filter is a really nice one. Easy to maintain, just clean it with a ShopVac, or if really dirty, soak it in dishsoap water.

Thanks, Kracka!
It's good to know But I don't really care about the cleaning part... If it gets really dirty, I'd better just go ahead and grab a new one instead.
So how it makes u feel "really nice"? Better low RPM response or better mileage?

Sounds like the mod bug has started on you. Decide now whether you'll go opensource or COBB AP. If it's going to be the AP, just follow the suggested mods.

I had the JDM Ralliart Sports Filter in mine. I had the HKS before it, I hated the HKS, loved the Ralliart.

If you can afford the Ralliart, get it. It was an amazing piece and made quite a bit of power with it. 333whp with just a FMIC, UICP, and LICP. Rest was stock. Honestly all drop-in filters should yield about the same power. So it's just a matter of preference and longevity.

You've never heard of Accessport? There's a whole section dedicated to it under tuning forums. I would suggest you get that as your first mod as it's pretty much fool proof if you're going to to just get basic bolt ons. Installs in under a minute and can be uninstalled just as fast whenever you bring it back to the dealership. If you buy it from Perrin, you get an extra free map as well.

Thanks! But that $120 thing looks exactly like the stock filter except it comes in Red color as a typical Ralliart part... Btw, why did u hate the HKS except for its hard plastic edge LOL?

Gotcha! I do know that little port. But I wasn't saying I need another mods tho, just the HF filter
Wondering if it's worth to get a customer tune for a stock EVO only with a HF filter??? Wasting $$$? LOL

It's absolutely 100% different. It's woven fabric (think like gauge bandage). Here is a shot of the back side:

It's very durable and flows much better than the stock ever thought of. When I sold mine (I went to a ETS Intake), I had to put the stock one back on. It was seriously like someone stuffed my intake full of socks.

As for the HKS, it doesn't have a rubber seal and a number of people have lost their MAF with HKS drop-ins.

You probably need to spend a couple months reading up on this board, also go attend some local meets, you will learn a lot from others and save yourself a lot of money.

It is washable, but I just blew mine out instead. Nothing really nasty gets in there if you check it every 5k miles. Definitely worth it imo. I think most of the good drop-ins are $80+ anyways.
