Re-badging?

Looking debadge my car but also wondering if there's a quick/easy way to reattach them. Primarily looking for recommendations for which type of adhesive to use down the road.

Thanks!

hey gillette i use your shavers! but besides that, when you de-badge you have to be extremely careful or the badge will snap/crack. i managed to get mine off without crackadge or snappage, but not everyone is a pro at it. you can always get some 3m vhb to reattach things like that but before you take them off you should measure where their location is at on the trunk

Thanks for the info - I've heard it's pretty easy with just using some dental floss after heating it up with a hair dryer... picked up some Goo Gone yesterday for some home stuff so I figured I may as well get around to doing this too.

Use a heat gun or hair dryer to get the glue soft and work it off dont pry on it. For re-applying use double sided 3mm tape.

The easiest to break is the Diamonds. They are only attached to each other in the middle.

I took all off, but realized it looked too bare. I plasti dipped the Diamonds and reattached.

I doubt the badges are very much to buy from mitsu. I know their OZ Rally badge was only $13.

dental floss works but it can break easily...try fishing line

3M double sided moulding tape will stick them back on if you don't mess them up taking them off.

I have used black RTV to reattach badges before and it works well. the double sided tape is too thick, IMO

^^^^
use 3M 8069 to put them back on. It is litterally just the sticky stuff, it's only on paper so that you can transfer the the "sticky" to the thing you want to make sticky.

if you dont wanna break it, like its been said: use dental floss and heatgun/hair dryer.

After putting the dental floss between the emblem and car paint make sure you pull the dental floss towards yourself or you might damage the paint. You basically "saw" the emblem off. Once its out, just use goo gone to clean off the rest. I will suggest you to go get some car wax because once you use goo gone it might still look like something got ripped out (which it did but car wax fixes that look).

To put it back on, just like evodood said grab that 3m 8069 to put it back on. (all credit goes to evodood for the 3m since i had no idea which type of it to use)

Dental floss is better to use, fishing line can and will scratch your paint. I would not recommend using fishing line.

Dental floss, goo gone, and wax is the only thing I used and it came off easy and not one single scratch.

Hair drier and dental floss works like a charm. Albeit be gentle I snapped my Lancer badge in half like it was a twig. But who cares.... it was the lancer badge

I used floss straight up with no heat. just pushed it back and forth and only took a minute to come off. I repainted them and reattached them with duck brand double sided tape. so far through rain and all, they've been perfect.

Just for your sanity, take some pictures before you remove them - along with measurements like lancerarmstrong said.
