Any good way to change the seats?

Hello, evo x guys,

I wish to remove my stock seat to a full bucket seat(ex. recaro, bride, sparco, etc).

But, I heard that there are two problems to exchange the Evo X's seats. First, the srs side&curtain air bags which stock seat has. Second, the weight sensor.

Is there any smart way to remove stock seat and install a bucket seat?

Thanks,

Weight sensor is only on the passenger. The driver is easy to swap out and yes, you'll get an SRS light.

Four bolts, btw, and then the harness clips. Search for some info on jumpering the seat belt buzzer. Put in a race seat, full harness, cage, and you are all set.

Thank you for the info.
You are right. As you said, there is not a weight sensor on the driver seat. I must face to the problem only when I wish to replace the passenger seat.

I mean I don't want to turn the SRS warning light on. So, I asked how to deal with it. Is there any way?

Hello,

>Search for some info on jumpering the seat belt buzzer.
As you say, the seat belt buzzer is bothering, too.
I think when I use a full harness, a dummy seat belt plug is useful.

I didn't want my srs light either, but disabling that after changing out seats is very difficult. At least I haven't figured it out. Anyone else?

I think it would require some reprogramming of the ecu to disable the light, or a small piece of bock tape...

Anyone knows how to eliminate the side srs error?

Johnr352,

Thank you for the post. I was just moving to my parents home from Hokkaido to Osaka(about 1000miles), of course by my EvoX...and a huge car ferry.

>I think it would require some reprogramming of the ecu to disable the light, or a small piece of bock tape
My dealer kindly inquired to Mitsu. And the reply was that by exchanging my ecu to another version physically, it's possible to cancel the srs side&curtain error. But they couldn't offer the part(ecu unit), since it's a 'maker option'(JDM). It's my fault when selected my options.

Then, I heard in the u.s., some people could eliminate this error using a register in the internet, but don't know 'how to' install it in detail.
(I heard that in the u.s., it's not a maker option, but a standard equipment for all owner, too. What a bothering when we install a bucket seat!)

If someone who could eliminate it by a register, could you tell us how to install it?

Thank you.

The OEM Recaros are nice as fudge already. I dont know why you would want to change em. I mean if you really have your mind set then do it, but as far as wiring goes, I wouldn't want to mess with it and not only that you will have that airbag sign on all the time in your dash. Plus if the insurance company finds out that you swapped your stock seats that has airbag to aftermarket they can void your insurance. Knock on wood something happends

Please never mind, it's worth to investigate it for all who wants to change their seat.

2 Xs in the U.S.Air Force base? wonderfull! 'jet fighter grill' cars and real jet fighters must fit well.

Hello! a fusible link. thank you! I'll ask to some tuners whether they'll be able to fix it or not on my return way to my lovely snow-filled hut.

Thanks.

ap2nice,

Hello, Thank you for the info. You are kind man.

oh sure, the oem one is very nice, and more insurance payments, it's sad.

But, for my little body, I want a just fit, smaller(especially width(at corners), and a little less height) bucket. And light weight buckets can reduce some weight of the car.(a very light tune.)

I would get a seatbelt dummy plug if possible.
