paint vs spraypaint vs permanent marker

I need to touch up my intercooler and I can either go with spray paint, paint w/a flush brush, or black permanent marker. Any downfalls on using black permanent marker? I have the AMS stencil I was looking for. Thanks everyone for the help on that btw. It said to print it out on 11x17 paper, but I'm not too sure paper will hold the liquids very well and seep through. What are your thoughts on black permanent marker besides being probably ghetto as hell?

I used black spray paint on my intercooler and I also used cardboard instead of paper, just be sure not to center the logo, you want to center it to the bottom of the intercooler

it's a used AMS intercooler I picked up that just needs a touch up, so I don't think it will be a problem aligning the current paint job. That's a good idea though I will probably combo it up with paper and cardboard then use the marker to touch up any rogue edges Is it OK to hose down the intercooler and polish it a little? There's a little smudges from existing bug marks heh.

Marker will show up as purple. See if you can find a paint pen

Spray paint but go lightly. Don't want to affect the heat exchanging properties of the intercooler.

You can also use a stencil with normal paint lightly applied with a sponge or something. Just enough for SURFACE coverage, not so much that it'll go down into the core.
