Hello everyone i would like to get a new evo but alittle worried, i heard that there going to change it for next year maybe im wrong and dont want to get stuck with old one. Is there going to be any changes soon or this will be the last one for now untill 2 or 3 years from now until a new lancer comes out. Please if someone could help me, thanks.

By this point in the X's development cycle, before 2008 MY/CY, we had all seen working pretty "production ready" prototypes and quite a bit about a new all aluminum block, the 4B11T. Since we have heard rumors, there might be truth to a 2012, but in all likelihood, nothing that new under the hood despite "hybrid" rumors, and a different updated sheet metal. IF THAT. The cost of new metal is something that slows down during recessions. It's a gamble, but remember that the first of a new MY is a high risk gambit also, unproven new designs. I took that gamble almost three years ago, I'm happy as hell with the decision to "go for it" and grabbed my X, even before the economy cratered.

Newer is not necessarily better anyway. Just look at IX values. X's will likely hold up. GSR's anyway. People may run from the MR tranny due to out of warranty cost exposure but who knows.

if there is a new evo it will most likely only be new sheet metal, the 4b11 is still a new motor..however like stated above we would of seen prototypes by now.

Wouldnt worry about getting stuck with the "old one", from what I can tell. the VIII's and IX's are held in higher regard then the X's. Pricewise, they are relatively the same too haha.

Can't go wrong with any evo imo.

It's tough to tell you not to wait for the new one because honestly, NO ONE on this forum knows what the next Evo might look/perform like.

Search through old threads from 2007-2008 and you'll see extremely different perspectives.

"Oh the Evo X is ugly"
"The Evo X is bad ***"
"The Evo X is fat and slow"
"The Evo X looks like a Storm Trooper in white. Everyone buy one!"

I'd say if you are concerned about the next generation possibly piquing your interest, you're probably better off continuing to save that car purchasing money and waiting to see what's around the corner.

That way, you'll be able to purchase the last MY Evo X if you didn't like what you see coming. If you purchase now, why would you be so convinced that the future Evo model is not something you'd like?

EVERY car has its own appeal when it first comes out, but that appeal ALWAYS goes down. At one point, the Evo VIII looked and felt like the best Evo in the world. And then the IX came in. And then the X came in. I loved the look of the IX, especially the front bumper. But i also feel the Xs look better now.

Things change. Be smart about what you do next.

Buy it! Honestly, I don't expect any huge Evo refreshes for at least a few more years. They have too much R&D money into the current platform to ditch it after only a few years. The CT9A platform for three different versions (VII, VIII, and IX). The CZ4A only has the X so far.

^ +1 Totally agree. If you notice in those old posts, pre X, the X was pretty well known, what the suspension has, what the body for sure would be, the new engine. Nothing like that I've heard exists for an Evo "11".

Which is EXACTLY why waiting for more news is the better option. If he has the money to buy the Evo X now, what's the difference in waiting a few more months?

If you buy the Evo X now, you risk discovering that the next Evo is better looking, with better features, with a stronger engine, etc...

If you don't buy the Evo X now, all you risk is several months of not driving the car you can buy later on this year anyway.

But since America is the land of buy now, cry later you'll probably end up buying the X anyway.

I don't think a few months will make a difference. If there was a dramatically different EVO coming out this year... we would have heard about it. The current EVO has only been out for a bit over three years now... and is all new technology. More than likely the next EVO will just be an "evolution" of the current model. So go ahead and buy that GSR.

The only time it is bad to purchase a current model is when a new and substantially better version of the car is coming out in a few months. For example my coworker bought a Hyundai Elantra in December and now there's one that's much better coming now. I feel bad for him... but that's not happening with the EVO now.
