Hit a huge pothole or felt like it...

I ran over a pothole, it felt like it was a crater. Litteraly could not see this thing, It sounded horrible..but then again anything in the X sounds more then what it really is...(Light rain hits the roof = sounds like a tropical storm LOL). I know there are threads about this, but i recieved no warnings on my cluster, i drove after i hit the pothole car felt fine...i eased on the breaks, then slowly applied more pressure and car still felt straight.

When i got home i inspected it, the car seems to be fine? Rim on the outside does not seem to have a crack or bend, no bubble on the tire....

Only thing thats getting to me is the idle, but its probably fine..i just read on another thread that someones idle got messed up after hitting a pothole..its probably in my mind.

I Just moved the car back and forth..car seems fine, just hoping i got lucky and nothing happened?

If the car tracks straight with no vibrations then you're fine If you worried though never hurts to get your wheels rebalanced and alignment checked/adjusted (factory alignments suck anyway).

The roads in New York just plain suck don't they. You should be fine. You're probably just hyper aware of every little knock your car makes now since you hit a crater. I usually get an alignment after I take my snow tires off just for all the abuse the car takes on the roads here during the winter.

Thanks guys! Yeah im really freaking out, but its probably like you said im more aware now of all the noises that the car produces and im thinking of it negatively, im going to go around for a drive in a little bit around the block just to make sure. Seemed all good before when driving home, guess i just need to get it out of my system that its a-ok.

Anywhere in the NE will suck in terms of potholes, considering the financial state of most cities and the added expense of all the snow removal.

Hit a pothole in my daily driver going to work in Manhattan a few weeks back that resulted in a bubble on the sidewall. Needless to say I had to get a new tire.

I filed a claim with the City for reimbursement, but I doubt I'll see my money back.

Dunno if you have a gsr but the enkie wheels bend easy. check the inside of the wheel for flat spots. happened to me and the wheels didnt have any visible damage but the steering wheel vibrated. found out i had a bent the inside of the wheel and had a flat spot

Not sure if my dealer aligned the car off the boat or not, but after 6500 miles and my first alignment ever, the car was pretty much spot on except for the toe on the RR wheel was slightly off spec

I saw the damage this morning, it's a bend in an area. Hopefully it's not leaking... The car isn't riding any differently. And if it was leaking, the tire would have shown a dramatic difference in the morning correct? And my sensor would show the tire pressure is low?

dam that sucks, but yes if u left the car sitting over night your light might come on by then unless its a very small leak which may result it coming a couple days later.

You should be okay. That won't leak. Maybe have the wheel rebalanced. I feel your pain, I hit a hole in my Acura and had to buy two new wheels. I hit so hard I thought my dash came loose

I hit a crater last week on my way into work, been bummed ever since! No rim damage, but I'm afraid there might be suspension damage with the way it felt.
