Question about up grading my BOV

What's up everyone. New to the forum and just wanted to say this place offers a lot of helpful information for newbie's like myself that are still learning the way's of the Evo. lol

Any hoo, After messaging back and forth with "Thore" another member of the forum, today I decided to purchase a ETS uicp, ETS licp and a ETS intake. So my question is, should I up grade my BOV or can I stay with the stock plastic set-up? I'm not looking for the "whoosh" sound I could care less about that. What i care about is performace and drive ability. I'm still running the stock MAF. Don't know if you need that peice of info or not. So ya, any in site would be greatly appreciated.

With those mods, you aren't really adding much in terms of hp, boost and gains so you shouldn't be messing with your stock BPV. Here is a paragraph from the Newbie Sticky:

Diverter Valve/ Blow Off Valve (DV/BOV):

Do yourself a favor; kill the ricer within you now. Evos do not respond well to BOVs. Especially if they vent 100% atmospherically. The stock IX diverter valve (aka JDM MR diverter valve) is a very capable and inexpensive solution. The IX diverter is metal and can handle 25 psi without any issue. You will experience very limited, if any drive ability issues. Partial throttle situations will be manageable and not violent.

- If you have an VIII, do yourself a favor and get a IX diverter valve.
- Don't be a ricer, unless you have an aftermarket ecu then stick with a recirculated diverter.
- Aftermarket diverters tend to have partial throttle issues and will never be as daily driving friendly as the stock IX diverter.

Thanks Fittest,

I'll look into getting the stock IX diverter.
